So true. I'm addicted to the anticipation. But seriously, what's in this thing?!

A really good question.

It seems that the issue with emissions stems from startup emissions. The bigger displacement of an engine, the more torque it makes...the harder it is to meet those emissions standards.

GM has already said this was a problem and chose to do a supercharged 8 for the Z06, which would have made the most sense to push for a N/A engine...

So...I am imagining not a big-displacement "LT7"...but rather a high-revving, hot-cam LT1. 7000+ rpm, 550+ peak hp.

It's the LT4. I'll bet you a beer at Buffalo Brew Pub.

That's a very good guess. I'm with you on that.

Deal! I'll hold you to that!

I figure....it's not different enough to tick off the Z06 people...and yet...might be just right for this new lighter chassis in Z/28 form. We could very well be looking at a 3550lb, 550hp track monster.

Yep I would bet on a S/C engine too. Not positive it will be called the LT4, but I literally mentioned in one of the other thread, I would rock a pink hood wrap on my 1LE for a week if this thing doesn't come with a S/C motor.

The only thing I'm absolutely positive of is that Buffalo Brew Pub has some awesome micro brews on tap and the shepherds pie is to die for. So I don't mind so much losing the bet to Wyndam. However I'm fairly certain Camaro isn't launching the latest HIPO NA engine.

Better order the wrap now...

If it's blown, it's the LT4. They won't put more power in the Camaro and there's no point in putting an engine with less power if you have to deal with the weight and heat of a supercharged engine.

I don't hear whine in that one, but I'm at work on my crappy headset and most times in that one, when the car was facing the camera it wasn't at WOT or was outright braking.

I don't much care either way if it's FI or NA. I think either way will be fun. I'm just not hearing a blower at this time.

I have also said that as well. ala LS1 to LS6.

I laugh that people are convinced it must be an off the shelf available today engine for a car that is at the very least 1 year out from production. GM has plenty of time to decide where else to use said engine. A hp bump for C7 in 2018 is not impossible. Let the Camaro do the hard R&D work. Wait until it is closer to production ready. Put it in a C7 test mule that requires no outward appearance changes that identify a different drivetrain. Make the C7 appropriate tweaks. And viola! An update for 2018 that no one saw coming.

You may have a point, if that's all it is why not put it in the 1LE?, does not fit the Z/28 it does fit the Z28 model, time will tell.
