DIY Cat Delete (Secondary)

I've been wanting to ditch my secondary cats and all muffler shops are closed on weekends around my area so kicking around DIY options. Originally was going to just let them delete the cats and weld new tips on, but since there's no place open on weekends since the hurricanes I decided to just install the tips myself and looking to do the same for the cat delete now.

Looking at pictures and measuring, 12" piece of straight pipe could get slipped on and welded in place of the cats. While I do have a welder, I don't have any 3" pipe nor do I think I will be able to weld on the top of pipes.

Would it be as simple as taking a sawzall to cutout my secondary cats and replacing it with something like this (to compensate for the passenger side's slight bend) and some 3" clamps? Open to other suggestions.

Pics of the carbon fiber exhaust tips straight from china for attention, and a random cat delete pic I found a while back.

This is one of those mods you’ll probably have to do yourself anyway. Most exhaust shops won’t remove a cat unless it needs to be replaced due to potential fines.

So in theory borla, awe, corsa link pipes should work with other exhaust brands?
I’m really hoping to score a system or link pipes from someone that sold the car etc

Are those pics welded to the stock mufflers? I'm assuming your NPP still works?

Any input on if the flex pipe in link would work?

Had intended to get them welded when I deleted the cat but got tired of waiting. Just sawzall the factory tips and these are clamped on. 63mm inlet and 114mm outlet. Same OD as stock tips, but look larger due to no flare.

Could you share with me where you got those tips from? I might be interested on getting something similar

Interested as I have a similar issue finding link pipes for my delete and installing headers. Im in florida so emissions isnt an issue but alot of shops are still weary. Right now Im using cats that where hollowed out but they resonate at 2k-2.3k rpm and its annoying.

Looks like the flex pipe from link won't work, I don't believe they'll bend that much. I know.they make actual flexible pipe but it would definitely look ike a hack job

As for tips, 63mm in and 114mm out

Also in notes I request no logo when I ordered. Planned on leaving blank, but other day has a few minutes so added my own logo in satin black. No one will ever notice it.

Why not just put a set of Kooks long tube headers instead? They bolt to the factory exhaust after you cut each side.

At this point, not wanting to go with headers until ready for a tune. being a '18 leary about tuning until I feel okay oil pump isn't going to let go at some point. Just want a little more volume currently, more so something I can do myself in my shop.

Which set would that be? And do they probably the connectors to attach to the stock exhaust?

How does one measure for cutting?
