Quiet Tire Options

I have a 2017 1LT with the 245/40/20 Goodyear F1 All Season Run Flats. 36k miles on the set and they have been fine but I swear they have gotten louder over time.

Has anyone maintained a Run Flat and had better luck with a quieter tire option?

I’m willing to buy a spare tire kit if that’s what I need to do and go to a non-run flat if that’s a largely better option.

I have even added some sound proofing, it’s just gotten to that point.

This is a daily driver, mostly highway and I do like a bit of “spirited driving” but it’s a V-6 so I would really prefer to find an all season option with less noise.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Conti DWS06+ should be quiet. Probably one of the quietest all seasons.

I have the Conti DSW's on my SS 1LE as winter tires. They are certainly quieter than the stock LT Goodyear Eagle F1 AS's. I am very happy with the Conti's so far.

Not run flats, but Ps4S are quite nice ride, quiet too in my opinion.

I have 2 different types of all-seasons, and both are clearly quieter than the run flats. I did some SPL measurements to compare. Note that above 80 mph on a highway the general noise of the drivetrain, exhaust, and wind pretty much drowns out the tire noise.

General Gmax AS-05: about 3-4 dB quieter than the run flats
BFG Comp 2 A/S plus: about 4-5 dB quieter

I think if you look at the tire rack reviews of these two it will say General is better in snow and BFG is better in rain. I think they rate the General as quieter than BFG, but that is not what I found. Subjectively, I think the BFG is slightly quieter and the better of the two.

Both BFG and General run rebates once or twice per year. Both my sets were purchased in stock sizes for the SS.

here's one of my posts with the measurements:

While I measured a big difference between the BFG and Generals, I think most of the change was from the sound tube delete, meaning I had measured the Generals when I still had the sound tube on the car. next time I put the generals back on, I'll do another measurement.

Run Flats are known to get louder over time. That happened with my moms ATS which had GY RF.hated them.

All tires get louder over time as the tread blocks wear down. Some get way louder, especially if they wear a feathered or serrated pattern into the tread blocks.
