So on Saturday I was tracking the car at Daytona 24hr Config course. Half way thru the day "Rear Axle System Off" message came up. The message only came up one time both days while tracking it, but while driving it back and forth to the gas station in tour mode the slip indicator light was continuously flashing. If I went into another mode it wouldn't flash. I was running the car on the track in track mode/race setting. Dropped it off at the dealer tonight so will see what they say this week. Thoughts what it could be?

Update from dealer:

Limited slip fluid leaked into the rear differential. They are installing a new rear differential. Should be in tomorrow.

Help me understand what that means. The way I understand it differential fluid is supposed to be inside the differential. Did it flow into the ECU which controls the engagement of the clutch pacts on the eDiff? Or are the clutch packs separate, and the diff fluid leaked into the diff from the clutch packs?

The EDiff fluid leaked into the differential. They checked the fluid level of the EDiff and it was low. Then they checked the fluid level in the differential and it was high. When they drained the differential they could see the mix of fluid. They are saying currently that they believe a seal went between the two which caused the issue.

The clutch packs, all gears, and the carrier are all in regular diff fluid like any other LSD. The hydraulic fluid that controls the amount of clutch pressure and the pump for that is totally separate and the fluid is very different. So they're telling the OP that the hydraulic fluid leaked into the main diff housing and mixed with the diff oil.

Random thing for this, regarding GM.

I was at Daytona in mid-September for racing and had the same issue, but it was software related. Something to do with the G forces on the banking that can freak out the system at very slow speeds(~30mph for me) and even at transition off the banking at high speeds.
I spoke to GM about this and they were able to replicate the problem while testing, they are working on an update for this incase anyone runs into this issue but it's not actually the diff like in your case.

Kmeleon: on the back of the cradle near the diff housing there is an aluminum "square" with electrical connectors on the driver's side and hoses on the passenger side. this is the electro/hydraulic system that changes the bias of the differential on the fly per system programing.
I've been told the fluid is Dexron IV (transmission fluid) and doesn't have a maintenance interval. There is a procedure for refilling it, but only in the case of a needed repair.
