You have to do something like floor it from 0 to 60 to enable performance shifting. Not something that would get activated under any kind of normal commuting.

Few examples when mine activates:

I'm driving 50mph and highway opens up. I floor it up to 80MPH+, and by the time I let go, it activates.

I take a highway entrance ramp - activates every time.

etc.

Sounds like something to brag about than complain about. I wish I wasn't stuck behind some mouth breathing idiot who merges onto highways at 40mph every single time i have a highway to merge onto that's not already a parking lot.

I would think you could kill your perf shift mode by switching to manual mode for a second and back. Haven't tried it though but it would make sense that breaking the "program" would reset the conditions to enable perf shift mode.

Not sure what I would be bragging about. I just don't get the point of this activating on its' own, with no ability to turn it on/off by user. Right up there with the forced 1-into-4th on V8 manuals...

I guess I'll stick to touring with sport steering enabled, unless somebody knows how to defeat it. Or I start driving like an old fart

All it does for manuals is change the feel of the steering. For me it feels like I'm driving a large slow car in touring, feels nimble in sport especially on corners.

Would it waste more gas if I drove it daily in sport rather than touring?

I have been leaving mine in sport and have noticed the mileage drop about 2mpg.

It couldn't possibly be due to me having too much fun, could it? thumbup

Thanks for the input guys. I have been putting mines in touring but I always felt like I was missing out. So I'm gonna keep it on sport and see how it feels. Would def love more input from the rest of the 6gen members

I used to go back and forth between the two depending on road and mood, but now I have the steering set to Tour and leave it in Sport 95% of the time and love it.

I stay in sport all the time also. Thought about seeing if daily driving in tour mode would help with gas mileage since shifts would be "softer"?

Never did for me. I used to use Tour all the time. For the past year I've used Sport...basically the same gas mileage. The only thing that has improved it in the slightest, like maybe 1mpg, is using premium gas.
