4th Whipple failure in 8 months.

It happened again. Watch the vid. The previous failures happened 2-3 months after install/repair. I was waiting to get out of this window of time to do an update. The last failure took place July 27th. Just when I thought I made it and was planning to bring good news, boom, broke again! The failure point is different this time but what difference does it make, its four breaks in 8 months. Unacceptable!!

I did everything Whipple asked of me last time. The shop and technician they recommended is 120 miles away from me. It cost me $1k to tow the car back and forth last time because all my AAA tows had been used up on the previous failures. Whipple would only cover the repairs not the tow. Whipple did come through and get the car repaired last time. I hope they do again. But do I need any more evidence that this unit is a lemon?

Man that really sucks, you’ve gone through a lot with them. And spent good money on the system. They should be replacing that whole set up way before this. Good luck and keep us posted on your results.

Don't even know what to say... I read and watched your whole previous story in the summer, and honestly, while there is no official "lemon law" for superchargers, I'd probably demand a full refund, then get a Maggie 2650 at this point. This component failure rate (it's the upper pulley, isn't it) is unacceptable.

This time it's the upper pulley. The previous three times it was the tensioner pulley.

I contacted Whipple about this before I posted here. Still haven't heard back from them. Last incident I demanded a full refund or that they take this unit in its entirety and replace all the parts with new. They refused both and said I'm having a belt issue and not a supercharger issue. I wonder if they'd consider this a supercharger issue??? I contend that I was having belt issues because there was a supercharger issue. Perhaps the upper pulley was out of spec and failing all along and that is what kept causing the tensioner pulley to fail and the belt to snap? Who knows.

Moderators, I just realized I placed this in the Forced Induction Classifieds and not the regular Forced Induction forum. Please move this thread to its proper place.

Honestly, at this point, id try to reach an agreement with Whipple and part ways. You probably won't get the cost of towing back. But since they recommended the shop and what not, od atleast go for the entire bill,, and you sending that unit back to them. Then going with a different brand. It sucks, but after 4 tries, id personally have ZERO confidence in the product.
