Gave the shop the green light on the Stage 2 build...Opinions???
Here is the mod list that the shop and I came up with....Hoping I am not paying too much. Invoice info:
6th Gen ZL1 Stage 2 Kit Part Description: Green Belt ATI Crank Pulley 1 7/8 WC 16 And Up Freight Jet 180 Thermostat Gm 14 And Up Rotofab Big Gulp 17And Up ZL1 ATI Ring Freight LT 4 Spark Plugs ZR1 Throttle Body ZR1 Throttle Body Adapter Dyno Tune 17+ Gm Total cost I was given is $7200 installed.....Good price or bad price? How many rear wheel horse increase? This is being done at a very reputable, highly recommended tune shop...... |

655/675. Price is...what market conditions dictate.
Call em in the morning and tell em you thought about it overnight and want the stage 2.5 (e85 sensor/tune) |

620-630whp depending on whether or not they use STD or SAE and the weather conditions on the dyno day and without knowing which lower pulley they're using. Price sounds about right for a higher end shop.

If you are satisfied with the cost then go for it. You will get all kinds of replies here either positive or negative and if the shop is top rated then let them do the work and drive on. I think the quote they gave you is fair due to the parts and labor involved.

Green Belt
ATI Crank Pulley $600 1 7/8 WC 16 And Up $1200 Freight Jet 180 Thermostat Gm 14 And Up $50 Rotofab Big Gulp 17And Up ZL1 $500 ATI Ring $150 Freight LT 4 Spark Plugs $80 ZR1 Throttle Body $300 ZR1 Throttle Body Adapter $50 Dyno Tune 17+ Gm (varies $600-1000) So after doing the math that is $3930 just in parts. BTW all parts prices I went with the higher end cost. All of which I have seen that can be purchased for less. Leaving $3000 and change for install. I would say its on the high side for sure. |

I guess you have to figure that I am being charged a high mark up for the parts, as they want to make money on them and not just for the labor. I did forward this invoice to another shop, and will get an answer tomorrow.....This place is renowned and has a good rep however......Price breakdown was as follows:
Parts 4,473.89 total labor 2,332.58 shop supply 168.41 Subtotal 6974.88 Sales tax 230.87 Total 7205.75 |

Stage numbers are just a way shops categorize aftermarket mods. All of them are different. You just have basic bolt ons which would be considered stage 1, if you want to even call it that. In my opinion: Stage 1: Basic Bolt ons. (Headers, intake, pulleys TB, etc) Stage 2: Basic Bolt ons, cam, heads, porting etc. Stage 3: Basic bolt ons, cam, heads, Supercharger upgrade. Stage 4: All of the above with addition of, meth and/or fueling upgrades. Just makes a bit more sense this way and is easier, but thats just my opinion. |

That seems a bit high priced for those mods to me.

Or go with a 2650 @~$5200(wait for a sale), tune @1k = $6200 - $1500 for selling your stock supercharger and you are mid/high 4k and net just under 700WHP

Stage 1- Flex sensor tune and E85. This mod alone will make pretty much the same power as all of the parts mentioned in the OP on 93.
Stage 2- Headers, RF big gulp, 103 tb, E60 Stage 3- 2650 swap and fuel system(Port Injection or +30 injectors/lpe di pump, low side). Back to full E on 14-15psi. Stage 4- Heads/Cam There is no reason in 2020 to open the motor unless you are shooting for 800+ whp. Most of these packages are old methodology from when fuel and PD supercharger options were limited early in the Gen 5 days... a bigger fuel lobe cam was a must to have adequate fuel supply. Also it made more sense to use heads/cam and less boost because of the 1.74 superchargers limited efficiency. With the 2650 you can run more boost on the stock engine because it's much more efficient. So now stock engine LT4's with a 2650 swap are making as much power as H/C stock supercharger cars.
