Both be plenty capable. Drivers will be main influencer.
Z07 brakes won't fade but it will overheat and zL1 will have a smoking steel rotors. 1LE be a pretty rare sighting where wide body c7's are everywhere now. Neither have friendly Street tires, but mag ride of z06 will be much friendlier than DSSV set up of 1LE Cars offer drastic different experience and target different customers. A lot of z07 cars are automatic convertibles. 1LE's are like the GM GtX Porsche offering that needs to be at track. |

Let's consider some things we know...
Willow Springs is 2.5 mi. long. ZL1 did a lap of 1:26.16 the Milford Road Course is a 2.9 mi. long. ZL1 did a lap of about 1:53.00. ZL1 1LE lap expected of 1:50.00. (Al O says the ZL1 1LE is approximately 3 seconds faster around this track than the regular ZL1.) After doing some factors, corrections, and other maths...You can expect a ZL1 1LE to do a lap of about 1:23.80 around that same Willow Springs. The Corvette Z06/Z07 ran a 1:25.00.................. |

And a shock of unbelief shook the pillars of the Corvette forum.

Id be more interested in the milford time for the z06. Rather than a hypothetical time where seconds count so much.
Lets see... Corner G---- Z06 > Zl1Le 0-60---- Z06 > Zl1Le 1/4----- Z06 > Zl1Le Stopping---- Z06 ? Zl1le Weight advtg Z06 > Zl1Le Endurance---- z06 < Zl1Le (although m7 Z06 is better in this than a8) How could one guess the Zl1Le will be faster round a track? |

If you don't like my math, I can totally understand. There are several hypotheticals and assumptions. However...consider this. The ZL1 WITHOUT the sort of sticky-aero-go-fast equipment that a Z06/Z07 has...was a second off of the Corvette's time around Willow. The new 1LE equipment will decrease it's time by more than a second...I'd bet my down payment on that. |

I have to admit...this car is growing on me, even with the gaudy wing.
Sorta glad I don't live near any tracks to temp me...gotta find my way to be content with the A10 for now. Ugghhh... |

GM is currently at Laguna Seca testing the new ZR1 (couple different versions) with the ZL1 1LE along with a C7 ZO6. Sounds like these cars are screaming around the track.

Let's not run away with ourselves here Camaro6ZL1FanClub
Z07 is street spec compared to the setup of the 1LEed ZL1. 1LE ZL1 pretty much "should" be faster. I think this ZL1 has some black magic going for it to be honest |

Let's wait and see instead of trying to make up times based on previous runs of cars at different times. Seems this sort of stuff as always okay when it benefits the car of your choice, but when it does not it is blasphemous.

Actually no, the C7 Z06 with the Z07 package is touted as the Corvette version of a track package. The Z07 is the aero package that "supposedly" enhances the Z06's performance at the limit while on the track.

Dont get me wrong. I was always a vette guy until I got a 15' 1LE...Loved that car. It won me over to the camaro camp hard. The handling on the camaro does inspire confidence that may make you more able and willing to approach it's limits, or yours.
I consider myself a chevy guy and I love what camaro has been doing. Theres no denying most people would qawk at a c7Z over any camaro...that being said, I realize that the only thing to be upset about when it comes to camaro greatness is that it makes it such a tough decision to make. It has become harder than ever to decide camaro or corvette...even for die hard vette guys...I would dare to say that camaro has overtaken the corvette for "bang for the buck". Im planning my chips to add a zl1 1LE to my garage...either that or a c6 z06 I can build. |

slower than you
|
The C7 "should" be quicker, I'd think, but not by a significant amount. Horsepower is a tie, but it's a lighter car with an arguably better overall aero profile. Some tracks may favor one car over the other.
