Something tells me it IS the problem and GM isn not aware of it yet. I have same issue, my car was built in December.

Yeah so just now they told me they drove another SS from the lot and it had the same sound. They said the bulletin they had applied to the YM 15 Camaro and that GM told them to go ahead and put a new type of fluid in the rear end for my 16 and sounds like there will be a new bulletin that applies to 16s since GM seems aware of it.. Also said that the new fluid is not compatible with the original seals so they are having to order the new seals and have it to me Monday.

My car had a horribly loud clunk in the diff when I was in reverse and had the wheel turned one way or the other. A fluid change corrected it. I know it's not a 16 but it seems to be common in the last gen too. Is the rear end completely different this time?

So this is what I just got called and told that should answer your question and is different what they just told me this morning.

Yes all the parts are supposedly different on the 6gens except some badges.

***Service bulletin on 2015s 5gens with the issue are suggested to have a new type of fluid put in and new type of seals that work with the fluid. (Sound familar..)

***Service bulletin on 2016 6gens is that if sound is heard then they need to flush a few times and do figure 8s in. GM says this has fixed any sound issues so far.

*The 6gens allready use the new fluid and type of seals needed in them and don't require the extra steps of the 15s*

Dealership said with that clarification no parts are needed and I should have my car later today.

Took mine in for the first oil change at 900 miles with dexos. I mentioned to my service manager to check for service issues for my VIN # and it was in that category. I had been hearing some noise from the rear and even though they didn't hear it like I did they went ahead and changed it. I have a very good relationship with my dealership as I've bought over 35 cars and trucks from them. So, they pretty much make me happy when I come in. Its all good now. So, if you hear anything from the rear take to your dealer and have them check it for you.

I am really glad I came back here at looked at the issues you guys are having. I have had the same turning sounds at low speeds or from stopped position. Took it to the dealer a couple weeks ago, and they said it was the tires. I will take it back.

Thanks

So what bulletins are these. I've spoken to 3 different service departments and none of them can find anything on the rear end. They all keep saying that this is how it's supposed to act. Limited slips should not act like a locker all the time.

Angry Rear End Isuues

I took mine back to the dealer for the second time, and they still cannot find anything wrong, and they wont change the fluid in the rear end without me paying for it. Printed and showed this forum, spoke with the service manager, and he was not interested in this at all. Seems GM would send the bulletin out so they would know ? I am fed up.

I get a low squeak from the rear end when I coming to a stop, doesn't sound like a brake squeak. It acts a bit rough sometimes, wondering if this is a fluid issue in the rear end.

Sorry to hear those that are getting the run around from their service departments. They didn't want to change the fluid in mine either until they heard the sound and GM Engineering told them to do it.

I will say it has made a difference in the sound after they changed it out. I still have the sound a little bit but no where near as bad as before. They told me it could take up to 500 miles for the replaced fluid to fully make the sound go away but not sure how true that is. Will keep updating...

I am noticing the sound that everyone is mentioning, but it's only on cold starts, and for about the first 5 min. Going to be very hard to convince the dealer about it...

Yeah I hear you...I feel the same way, dealer will probably argue with me I am sure. My wife heard it last night when we were driving last night, glad I wasn't going crazy!
