Anyone wanna take a stab at what's going on here?

No clue what's going on here and only here, or what to do to combat it. Sorry about the lighting. I was at the gas station.

What are you showing a picture of? Give us a description and maybe a pic from a little further back.

I go to a touchless every other week and use their do it yourself bays. I haven't waxed it myself in awhile though. Damn it...

Yeah, my old truck used to get like that when I didn't maintain the paint. You can try using some light polish to see if it gets the cloudy areas out.

You're on the verge of clearcoat failure so you might be able to still save it by polishing and then giving it a nice coat of wax.

I agree that a good detailing is what you need...There is a specific detailing section on this site, you should go there and read some of the post, very detailed info on saving the appearance of your car...

"Touchless" carwashes are just as bad. They just use harsher chemicals to get the shit off instead of wash media.

Another too close pic.....

Nothing beats hand washing your car weekly with a good waxing every 6-8 months.

That's your basecoat showing through a spot where the clears gone and needs a clear coat to protect it. appears rear quarter?

That's past being able to polish. Good luck with it.

Probably going to have to take it and get it painted I guess. It's okay though. Already had the top of the car painted, the hood, the doors. All for various reasons...

Looks like bad oxidation. I would start with a paint cleaner by hand or by orbital. Good paint cleaners can be found with Meguiars, 3m or Menzerna. If you see white flaking or patches with white circle flakes, then you may have had clearcoat failure in which the clear has worn away and the base coat is exposed. If its just cloudy white stains, then you may still be able to save your paint. Good luck.
