That does look good. Any noticeable gains? I am interested in knowing if it yields some ponies.

Do you have to disconnect the battery? I dislike the idea of doing so as it always seems to require the "re-setting" or something else afterwards . . . thoughts? Mandatory?

Thanks
In the old days with the LS1 diconnecting the battery helped the car relearn the fuel trims with mods like a whisper lid, ported MAF housings and even a ported throttle body.

The new ones seem to not clear the memory, and since the only electronic part you are disconnecting is the MAF sensor, I would say you probably fine (not responsible for any damages) by not doing it. I did not do it on mine, but I do not have the Z/28 CAI.

The only way to affect the fuel tables today is the fuse pull.

I have not dynoed myself, but on the z/28 forum, where i've read all the LS3 guys' comments, seems to come in at 15hp to the wheels. Had mine dynoed couple yrs ago bone stock, came in at 388 rwhp. Should be a touch over 400 now. Even if it's 0, I don't care, looks awesome, fits like a glove and sounds incredible.

This is one mod I may seriously consider. Unlike a lot of owners, I am not easily impressed by bolt-ons or most mods. Simple, clean oem mods will always get my attention though.

Your sig says you ran a 12.739 @ 110.44, that would mean you ran a 13.439 @ 106.44 prior to the intake install. Assume you had the LT/Cats in place already, something is wrong with your car as it is slower than stock.

Using math (which you cannot cheat) for a 4000lb car to run 0.7 seconds faster you would need to have gained 51 wheel horsepower with all other items being equal. A 4 mph increase in trap speed takes less power to achieve, but neither add up. That would indicate your car was only making 326whp on the same dyno prior to the intake.

Post the time slips and I can better help you understand where you made up the difference......If I can't explain it I will be very surprised.

Just installed my Z28 CAI and not a fan of the hose routed right over the engine. I have the PCV kit installed on mine...Hard to tell but it looks like you do too, is that correct? If so, can you provide more pics of the way you rig yours? I see the elbow and that all make sense but how did you route that to the main housing? I haven't driven her yet but happy with how it turned out and can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can see how she does. Thanks in advance!

OP-- It look very nice! Let us know how it work out!

I prefer the close system type. This improves the combination efficiency, by withdrawing air from the outside, which keeps air inlet temperature as low as possible.

Where as these open system pull the air around the engine bay, which is at higher temps (200-300 F) and increases the engine RPM to compensate the low air density at higher temps.

The Z/28 CAI seals at the hood insulation, only pulls air from the outside when hood is closed.

Thx cdb95z28, not sure I’d have found that without a push in the right direction, cheers!

Once you pay Rock for ground shipping they are a bit more expensive than Amazon right now with their free shipping.
