Camaros with Kids!
I'm sure this topic has been discussed, but I haven't found a relatively new thread regarding thoughts about the Camaro as a daily driver with a toddler. My son will be turning 2 in December so he will be front facing soon, but I was curious to see how many others have made this work. I am going to visit a local dealer tomorrow to drive a 20 LT V6.

No problem with 3 kids, smallest two on the rear bench, oldest riding shotgun, stuff in the trunk, everyone enjoys the ride. A/C in the summer was just about okay with them, the vents need to be directed straight towards the back. Had 2 booster seats in the rear without issues, and there are LATCH tethers if needed.
Of course the lack of rear doors is a sacrifice, this isn't an Accord or a Camry, but other than that, you should be fine. My kids never complain and even try their best not to soil the car.

12 and 16yr old adopted sis in law no problems, now I also don't take long drives with them at most an hour.

Not a problem, have 2 full size recaro car seats in the back.
The lack of seat belt loop on seat is more of pain n ass than lack of leg room.

My almost 10 year old and 7 year old rode in my car today no issues. Back seat is a bit tight for my daughter but when my son rides shotgun he moves the seat up for her

works fine with my 6 and 7 year olds. But i can see for some tall folks in the front, it could be uncomfortable to have to move the seat forward enough to make leg room.

Rear facing seats are tight, but doable if the front seats don’t have to be all the way back. Front facing seats fit no problem at all. Thankfully my wife is short so it’s not a problem having my two year old in the back with her rear facing seat. And she loves the “vroom vroom” noises!

my daughter fits great in the passenger seat. she’s 12. 5’ 90 lbs. doesn’t fit in the back very well.

I grew up having to sit in the back in a 3rd gen. It sucked ass- every second of it. My brother and I chastised my mom for years before she finally wised up and bought a jeep Cherokee.
Getting a child out of a car seat (especially back facing) from the back of a 6th gen quickly after an accident or in an emergency would be extremely difficult, and not something I would personally risk. If there were a fire or whatnot after a wreck, and seconds counted, I couldn't live with myself if that were the difference between life and death for a rear passenger. I don't judge others for doing it, but I personally won't with my two kids. IMO, the car isn't designed for 4 people and I literally don't understand how so many people seem to act like putting passengers in the back is totally doable. It may be if the front passengers are 5'4" or less, but at 6'2", my seat back rests against the back seat, so there is zero leg room. |
