2016 Camaro 2ss water damage price quote

My 2016 Camaro 2ss has water damage in the trunk that killed my battery 2 days ago, after replacing it the dealer said it died again the next day and they did a deeper dive. They found corrosion on the rear fuse box, amplifier, and elsewhere in the trunk. They quoted me the repair as $6500. Does that sound right? The battery replacement and diagnostic fee was going to be $400 but $6100 for fuse box, amp, and labor sounds wrong.

Without actually seeing the level corrosion, the cost seems a bit outrageous.

That being said, you can buy an amp and a fuse housing for ~ $450.

If it were me and the corrosion was not extraordinarily bad, I’d buy the amp and fuse housing, disconnect the battery, then hit the wire harness connectors with plastic safe contact cleaner. I’d then soak them in white vinegar and lightly hit with a tooth brush until they looked clean. Once clean, I’d neutralize the vinegar with a solution of baking soda and water, then rinse with distilled water, then hit them with WD40. Assemble the new parts with the now clean connectors.

Good luck, I think you need at least one more price if you choose to have someone else fix.

If you have any kind of mechanical ability, you can try the above.
