First drive after installing the Magnuson 2650 on my SS

I spent the better part of a weekend installing the kit I purchased. I found the kit to be extremely well made and fairly easy to install with the right tools and some mechanical ability. The instructions were slightly off as Magnuson provided a different fuel line than depicted in the manual but it was an improvement. Today I took it out for its first spin. This thing is a rocket when you jump on it and feels nearly stock during normal conditions. My only complaint is that I couldn’t hear and whine but assumed that could be the case with a blower that spins so slow for my application.

Thanks for all the people who posted their experiences on the forum it made my installation much easier!

They are pretty tame, you have to spin them harder for sure. You'll still enjoy sneaking up on them and then they'll know what you have after they see some tail lights. Congrats.

congrats! may I make a suggestion. get it re-tuned with HPtuners. While the maggie tune is "ok" i found that it runs richer. by getting it tuned i was able to unlock about 30 more HP, but more important the car A/F is right where it needs to be and happy.
2) yes my only complaint was the whine factor as well. I've searched and asked opinions but no dice.

Eaton tunes these rotor packs for OEMs, and most OEMs want refinement, which means very little noise. I bet you won't find much whine until you're well-into the teens in boost.

My Whipple is also fairly quiet, but one thing that did help was removing the rubber seal across the top of the Rotofab box. I can hear a little more Whine since doing that. I basically removed the seal because it was causing my hood to not sit flush. So in the process I noticed I can hear a little more whine in the car. I also Haven't noticed any adverse effects in my data logs from not using the seal.

Ok that gives me some peace of mind to know that the Magnuson tunes are pretty good. I know some of these companies put out some really terrible tunes. I'm glad that thing is moving!! Any plans to get it on a dyno?

I have the gm performance intake and another member recommended removing the air box lid. I took it out again today and it might have made a small difference but who knows for sure.

The Magnuson tune does utilize HP Tuners. Ill probably wait to get a custom tune when I upgrade the fuel system and add long tube headers.

The tune does seem pretty good but I’m sure leaves some on the table. Yesterday the trans (A8) seemed to be hunting a bit but seemed better today. The factory tune does not adjust the trans.

Our tunes normally don't change the TCM, its just not usually needed as the factory tunes are pretty decent. It usually opens up a new can of worms when you start messing with the torque management and pressures.
