SC3R unavailability

Purchased 4 tires a month ago. Received 3 of them from tire rack. Apparently Goodyear has pushed back any further production from 9/29 to November 3rd. So I am left with needing
a 285/35/19.

I called six or seven different places and checked multiples online all with the same outcome. Anybody have any suggestions outside of buying a used set off of eBay?

Do you track your car? Mainly people have PTM issues running square vs the original stagger. You’ve gone way more than that increasing the front diameter nearly 1” over stock and now 1/2” taller versus the original “1/2” shorter than the rears. Can’t see this being a good thing.

I'm not running a square setup.
I'm running 20" SS1LE for daily and 19" (ZLE) for track.

After thinking more about your post I did a quick reference tire size calculator and understand better what you're saying. You're saying diameter is a .7 in the rear LESS with the 19s. When running the 20s it's a 5inch MORE diameter wise. Fair Point.

This is the reasoning for my choice.

Sorry for my poorly worded post… glad you figured out what I was trying to say.

I’m kinda surprised it’s their recommendation. Have you actually driven on that size or just building your initial setup?

My apologies for the continuous challenges. I’m just trying to help.

No worries.

I don't understand why Apex would recommend a front tire that is 1/2" taller than the rear tire. I would not choose that setup, and only part of the reason is the potential confusion to the ABS/TCS. It also will change your roll axis inclination. Among the GY SC3 sizes, I would have picked the 295/30/19 to pair with your rear 305/30/19s. That's all academic, though, since neither is available right now.

I suggest you ask TR to take back the three tires you have received, since the production date has changed (and could easily change again). Instead, get the Continental ExtremeContact Force in 295/30/19 front and 315/30/19 rear. Your rim widths are in the recommended ranges for those tires, and those tires offer good grip with outstanding longevity in a track environment.

I've been buying my SC3Rs in ZLE sizes from Walmart for the last couple of years. They've had better prices than Tire Rack or anywhere else.

The 285/35 seem to be out of stock, but the 305/30 are available.

You mention 19" ZLE sizes for track, but the ZLE wheels are 19x11 front w/ 305/30 & 19x12 w/ 325/30 rear.

I'm hesitant to try anything other than good years just because they've proven to have such reliability with our vehicles in the track environment. Do you have experience with continentals?

You are correct I should have been more specific in saying that I'm running 19s instead of saying ZLE.

I already have (2) 305/30's, at this point I just need a 285 where or as another poster said a 295.

I don't, but there is a thread here on them. The bottom line seems to be that they come up to temp quickly and last a long time and take heat well, as they seem to have been targeted to endurance racing. I've tracked the SC3s and I understand why you like them. I recommended the Conti because it seems like a reasonable alternative with similar qualities (probably a little faster), plus the sizes I suggested will fit better in terms of diameter (i.e you won't have taller front tires than rear like you will with the fitment you have bought).

I appreciate the recommendation.

Aren't they 200 treadwear? I believe so which means they likely are more comparable to the SC3'S, not SC3R's. I'm sure they are a decent tire but I'd like to stick with a 100 treadwear. Good suggestion though as it's opened my mind to other possibilities because Goodyear isn't going to be a reliable choice in the near future.

Damn, I totally glossed over the "R" in your post. I was thinking you had the SC3. I'm sorry about that confusion!

Yes, you're right: the Conti ECF is probably a little grippier than the SC3 but it's probably not nearly as grippy as the SC3R. It should be closer to the SC3, so I understand wanting to stick with the 100tw tire. I'm not sure what to recommend in that grip range. The obvious option is the Hoosier R7. It might even last about the same as the SC3R, which is not nearly as durable as the SC3.
