The problem with using the rear output from the head unit is that it is not a full range signal. This is why everyone taps the front and deals with the amplified chimes as best we can. My tuner tried to EQ them out as best he could.

I tested it both ways with test tones and I get good bass using the rears just like the fronts but without amplified chimes. how else could the system go from 105db @ 50hz to 117db adding the rear 6x9. Yeah there might be a a high pass filter in place below 45-50hz, but it don't matter because you don't want 6x9 speakers playing any lower. Actually the door 6x9 could benefit from a high pass filter of 50hz.
fwiw, these 6x9's are -2db @ 50hz, so they will extend well into the 40hz range and I did not get any deeper bass using the front input.

Keep in mind that I am speaking about tapping the head unit from a 1LE that does not have any factory amplifier whatsoever. |

I am in your thread clarifying because earlier in your thread someone with a 1LE came in and asked if what you were saying would carry over to his 1LE and you said that not having an amp shouldnt make any difference... You are bumping this thread and I dont want people to be mislead.

All I said was the 1LE should have a factory amp and was corrected that it does not. Then I said to Mike after the fact was that the front channel has all the tones and chimes directed through them. I never said anything about the 1LE rear channel being full range.

1LE does have an amplifier. It's located behind the glove box. a little bit of a pain in the ass to get too but that's where it is. I recently added 2 amps to the car.

That is not an amp. This has already been discussed countless times in other threads. That is the tuner that you are tapping into, its not an amplifier. Now we are starting to derail dudes thread. sorry for that.

It's all good...go ahead and get the correct information out in the open. I edited the op to reflect that what I have found only pertains to the 1SS Non Bose w/ Amp system.

Nope you didn't...and I agree the 1SS system with non bose amp is the easiest system to upgrade the sound.

KingLT1 are you still monitoring this thread? I have a couple question I would like to ask. Would you please explain the reverse polarity and the wires you cut because of exhaust like sounds at certain RPM's. I put a Kenwood Amp and 6x9's in my 1SS and its sound pretty good but at around 3000 to 4000 rpm's I am getting a very loud hum over the speaker system. The first question about the Reverse Polarity is to mainly understand what and why. I installed everything as per instructions and if I can make sound better, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
