Maggie X3100

Finally - a few more details:

* 3-lobe rotor group
* 30% more airflow than 2650
* 11% greater VE

It's interesting to me that it's a 3-rotor pack, from Eaton's V-Series, which they list as more of a moderate PR and lower speed than R2650, and that it seems to favor lower-engine speed efficiency:

https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/produ...-overview.html

Joshinator needs to get in on this

Not that I'm too interested, but I wonder if Magnuson will offer this as an upgrade to 2650-guys, because when the 3100 was announced (years ago, with a 4-lobe rotor group), they said you could swap intercooler tubs, exchange the outlets, and that (in conjunction to the 3100 case) would bolt right in place of the existing 2650 blower assembly. Hmm...

Should be enough to power some led sled 6th gens into the 7's.

Cue this video in when Jim Carey says "do you want to hear the most annoying sound in the world" in Dumb and Dumber.

Wasn't it though?!!! I know that belt drive will cause some of that, but I'm not interested in that kind of whine, lol.

So I've been in that blower testing cell when I worked for Magnuson, that's nothing compared to what it really sounds like. It's incredibly loud and the high-pitched blower whine is an ear drum buster, it you were in there while testing without ear protection you'd come out deaf. You can't be in there without special ear protection. Every blower is tested in that cell before its shipped, at least it used to be. I don't know what they are spinning these blowers, but the 2650 was tested to about 29000 rpms if I remember correctly. I know there have been a few guys spin them well over 25000 rpms. I hope they've done their homework on this one cause the last 3100 was a flop and never was released. I doubt Eaton would let that happen again. If it works well then there will be a lot of 2300s and 2650s on the market.

You just have to listen to a Copo go down the track to realize the Jack Shaft makes a lot of noise and it's like you said the belt cog drives are very loud especially when they are overdriven. The Serpentine belts that came on the earlier 1900s and 2300 were really quiet. I converted my 2300 on my G8GT to a cog drive and man it was cool sounding. Price and power will be the factor in how well they sell.

Although the ones around here now "talk"... I miss the terror-inducing high pitched whine of what they used to sound like.

On the down side it would certainly alert anyone that you're racing, like any police in the area.

FYI my car can already attract cops from a 3 mile radius at WOT already…not that I can really use WOT on the street.

I'm concerned that Eaton and the Eaton Performance distributors don't fully understand the application that they are trying to sell to.
I sincerely hope that my experience is completely incorrect, but as you stated above radz28, this unit may not be what most of us are looking for in a high pressure ratio / high flow SC application.

Haven't see any data yet so I'll be waiting

It will, definitely, be interesting to learn your thoughts after reviewing the data. It kinda' seems like they're trying to make a more roots-type blower this go around maybe. But - I'm just speculating and wouldn't know anything about that.
