first time down the 1/4

Unusually warm day in Oct seemed to be a good time to run her down the track.

Only got 3 runs in. 1st was a 11.7 with an easy launch and really just keeping an eye out on the guages to make sure everything was good. 2nd one was the best. The 1st two runs I manually started in 2nd and then smacked the shifter over to auto mode after the launch. 3rd run I tried in full auto mode and seemed to spin and then bang off the rev limiter before it shifted into 2nd.

Not bad for our first time down the track but feel it has quite a bit more left if I can get the launch better. Was running on 315/18 nitto drag radials and they seemed to hook pretty good except for the 3rd run.

This is the slip from my best run.

Not bad at all, like you said with more practice you will get the 60 foot and ET times lower

I was able to grab a 1.75 60' last time out and a 11.1@128 in 1280 DA. Given your mods, I would think that you have a lot of potential left in her!

Are you running any E and have your trans tuned?

Given the dyno numbers I would think she could go mid 10's, with traction. Weather permitting I am going to go again this weekend and hopefully get a few more runs in, maybe even data log a couple of them to help the tuner out.

No E yet, was told I did not have enough injector to handle the increase in volume that would be required for E. She is going in for 30 over injectors new high pressure pump and swapping out the D1 to a D1x.

Nice. Prob right on the inj overhead limit. Definitely datalog. I would never have caught my "torque management event" my last time out w/o logging. It was something that can only occur at the strip w/ a prepped track in the top of 1st gear. In my case, I'm thinking a 10.9 at least is possible, but w/o the datalogging I may have just thought 11.1 was all she had in her.

Congrats on your first run down the 1/4! You’ve got plenty more left in that combo and being able to run some E will add a good boost of power.

Hmm, launching in 2nd with a centri blower seems counterproductive to me. That is a thing that the PD-blower guys who are turned up a lot started doing because their brutal torque hit at launch was not matching well with the gearing of the 6g cars. Honestly I think that a 1.86 short time is well off what your equipment list suggests the car should be doing, which seems to support my thought on using that technique with a centri. Additionally, I think something is wrong with your tune, because it is not pulling out the back as hard as 759rwhp should be. I actually had a centri blower on an SS, just the base kit rated 550 hp on stock motor with stock exhaust, and with the stock torque converter, mine was doing 1.6 short times running 10.9 ETs in summer heat. With the extra 200 rwhp above mine (759rwhp is 9sec power) plus an aftermarket converter, yours should be MUCH faster IMO. Datalogging on the track to find out what tune changes are needed, plus working on your own technique, should move things in a positive direction.

Wnta1ss is right. No need to launch in 2nd gear. You’re not getting into any increased torque until 4000 plus rpms. Be sure to heat those DRs up good. 5 secs of good Smokey burnout should do it. Aired up to 19-20. Be sure to set the 1-2 shift early, like 29-31 mph. You don’t want to hit the limiter.

You definitely need to datalog for your tuner. You should be trapping much higher.

It’s a good start and hopefully your tuner will get it figured out.
It’s a relief to get those first runs under your belt. You’ll have even more fun the next time out.

Not bad for the first outing but I have to agree with the last couple posts. Honestly that looks like a run from a 550-600whp car. 760whp should run high 9's @ 142-143 with a 1.5 60ft in decent air. I would say you are a full second off and 10mph trap from where it should be in similar conditions. ET will get better with more experience, but the trap speed should be a lot higher even if for the first track outing. 1.8 60ft is plenty good enough to get a good mph.

If you want a second opinion on your tune message me.

Anytime I try and start in 1st I seem to bang into the rev limiter, it launches hard then it just kinda pauses then shifts to 3rd and runs great from there. I had my tuner look at it this summer and he made a couple changes so it is better than it was, but still has an issue before shifting into 2nd.

I went again this weekend and 1st run was the best, ran an 11.01 at 131 with a 1.7 60ft. 2nd run lost traction shifting to 3rd which was kinda odd. Last run I took a bit easier off the line still ran 11.4 at 131.

I think I did one data log from the last run just need to get into HP tuners to see if I can get it out. Very new to HP tuners. Hope I did it right, I just had it connected and once I staged pressed the space bar then again after the run and saved it.

If it comes out I will post it here.
