PSA: Thermostat housing

For my fellow belt driven supercharger brethren: this has been sporadically mentioned on the board here and there, but just a heads up if your blower belt ever lets go, the OEM thermostat housing is directly in the line of fire. The small tube nipple will snap off and spray coolant everywhere, ending your track day or worse. I picked up the AMP billet housing (was cheaper through Speed Engineering by a good bit but it arrives in the AMP box) and have to say it’s very nice (if not cheap). So do yourself a favor and swap this in before this fun experience happens to you!

For those buying this AMP thermostat adapter, just a heads up that the adapter hose barb was improperly sealed by the manufacturer. After installing it and firing up the car, the threads started leaking. The adapter was hardly tight, with no sealant on the NPT threads. So I pulled it, used some glycol-resistant thread sealant, and reinstalled it a good bit tighter. Good to go.

I had an AMP on my C7. Nice piece.

Agreed! It is a nice piece. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on that barb adapter…sucks to get it all cleaned up and started up…only to have to make a mess again. Much easier to check it before installation.
