We went out for dinner on Saturday at a little tiny place. Parked in the lot in between two vehicles that were parked reasonably well. The whole lot probably holds a dozen cars.

For all the reasons I've seen so far:

1. To just be a douche.
2. They can't park. They need your car to benchmark/gauge where they can park.
3. They don't want to park alone.
4. They just want to see the car closer.
5. Or they want to steal it.
6. To serve as a barrier.
7. To park near someone with mutual intentions.
8. It's raining.
9. They just don't care.
10. Because you happened to park next to shade or the entrance.

All viable. There's one reason that I don't think has been mentioned...

You own a nice car and have parked somewhere "safer". They value your judgement and know they won't swing your door into their car and park near you to keep their own car safer.
