It's been my experience that once you start taking things apart issues may occur. Not always but if it doesn't have to be done, I'd prefer to leave things per the factory. But, to each their own.

My neighbor/best friend got the kit from Phastek and they just bolt on leaving the factory hinges alone. They swing out still about 65%.

I know this is a controversial mod. I wouldn't normally go for them, but it fits the theme of my car and I thought the doors up would look a lot like Batman's cowl. So Vertical Doors hinges installed...

Doors open maybe 1/3 the way they do stock, before it hits a stopper and then they can swing up. So I can get in and out without needing to put the door up if I want to be more subtle. Also, the 1/3 swing will keep my kids from whipping the door open and hitting the garage wall, so that's a bonus!

it's definitely inconvenient to have the door lengths we do on these cars in a huge variety of places. Both with narrow parking spots and garages and people used to 4 door cars tend to over-open the doors or slam them.

Almost makes you wish suicide doors were a thing for 2 door cars with no functional rear seats. That seems like it would be an extreme improvement in being able to get in and out of a camaro without needing to open the door as much and not look ridiculous trying to squeeze out of one with the door 1/3 open.

I wouldn't sweat the stigma of vertical doors... nobody's looking at a modern camaro and thinking "class". It's an aggressive looking car that seems to be perfectly happy being noticed and is far from subtle at pretty much any angle. Vertical doors isn't really out of place. It's all about how you present it. Some people go too far who tend to get vertical doors and that is likely what people picture when they think about them on cars that aren't supercars. that's not the doors fault though.

In an unlikely turn of events, I quite like these on your car, somehow they go very well together with the Batman theme

As to garage wall cockupperies, I use this foam, and the paint on my door edges is still intact: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PHS9YP3

What about the windows that roll up and down when the doors are opened/closed?

I don't think there's a reason for them not to work the same way, these doors aren't real McLaren or Lambo ones, they open "normally" about 1/4 of the way, only then turn upwards. Vice versa for closing.

The vertical doors are actually nice to have on these Coupes with very long doors, but too bad those rice boys ruined it for everyone.

That said, I believe there are some safety concerns with the vertical doors, particularly with the hydraulic system regarding their weight and location.

I had a car(RX-8) with suicide doors and it's pretty great. The rear seats aren't the most spacious, but definitely better than the Camaro. You get the Coupe look and some practicality of the Sedan.

RX-8 used to be a good way to troll an insurance company because it is a 4-door (Coupe) with a 1.3L engine(that made 232 BHP because rotary), so it used to be really cheap to insure them. I'd think most insurance companies have wised up at this point, however.

The only thing would be that it probably won't play too well with the convertible. At least on the RX-8, the roof is a pretty important part of the structural integrity. That's why it never had a convertible version(outside of one or two parade cars used in Japan).
