I just wanted to get this out there to anyone who is interested in purchasing a Billy Boat exhaust system in the future, and I want to give you guys a heads up on what has happened to me so far.
So, it all started when I purchased the SS Camaro cat-back from Billy Boat on July 25th, and was quoted approximately 10 days until it would ship. I was fine with waiting a couple weeks, and boy was I excited! However, after 14 days, I began calling and emailing trying to figure out when the exhaust would actually ship out. Every time I was able to get a hold of someone, they assured me it was going to ship out the very next day, that I do not need to worry. This company has a tendency to over commit on their arrival dates, and I learned this the hard way. When the exhaust finally arrived, 5 weeks later mind you, it looked fabulous! Welds were spot on, just an absolute work of art! The exhaust shop I had it installed at also bragged about how well it fit under the car, and it was one of the best quality exhaust systems they had every seen. As you could imagine after waiting 5 weeks to hear this baby, I was exited to hear her pur.
However, upon first start up there was a slight buzzing noise. The car sounded incredible, except that every day the buzzing got worse and worse. On October 5th mind you, I caved and finally called them to explain the situation, and asked for a replacement system. They said they could happily do it, but they were backed up so they wouldn't be able to get one out until October 30th. I thought that was a bit of a long wait, but I was grateful they were going to replace it so I was more than happy with waiting a few weeks.

SO, fast forward 4 weeks to October 30th, no exhaust shipment notifications. I gave it a few more days, because the 30th was just an estimate. So I called them 3 days later, and I couldn't get a clear answer. After calling multiple times, I was told more than once that "It's on the bench right now, it should ship in a few days!" So I waited a week. No answer. It's now November 8th, 5 weeks after I was promised a replacement on the 30th. I was finally able to get a hold of Billy, the owner of the company I believe, who told me that it won't ship out until the FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER. At this point, I'm about ready to ask for a full refund. So, It's been 4 months since I originally ordered this exhaust for $2,000, and I have a car that sounds god awful every time I start it or touch the gas pedal. Oh, and I still have another 3+ weeks before I can HOPEFULLY get a replacement. I'm hopeful the replacement will come on time, but I'm losing faith.

I just wanted to get this off my chest, and share my experience with everyone. I'll keep you guys updated on how this unfolds!

Bonus: What the car actually sounds like right now with the rattle

Stupid question but I’m sure you checked if it’s hitting or rubbing on anything right? Otherwise if that’s coming from the muffler internally than that sucks. Thanks for the review.

Yeah I’ve crawled around underneath it to make sure nothing is touching it causing it to rattle. Unfortunately it’s something inside the muffler causing the noise

There was another thread on this board about the Billy Boat exhaust back when it first came out. Same exact situation. Beautiful welds. Long ass lead times and weird rattles. So, at least they’re consistent.

Honestly doesn't sound much different from stock to me. There's a "rattle" type noise that I've always heard in mine - with the valve open.

You have the NPP rattle. Which you can research about and get fixed via the dealer.

That doesn’t apply here. Looks like Billy Boat eliminates the NPP (or valved exhaust) and it’s still rattling so that’s an internal issue/

You tend to find great products but then the business side of it is where it all goes to hell in a hand basket. Say what you want about the likes of Amazon, Wal-Mart and similar...you have a receipt and you get a refund or exchange on the spot instead of all this wishy washy system they make you jump through.



Your video sounds like something internal to the muffler, too me.

Makes me happy I chose Borla. Took a month to come in but whatever.
Figment is right. Sounds great.

I did have an issue with their mid-pipe touching my rear diff coolant line but nothing some heat and vise couldn’t fix

If you want a full refund, you should get it. That's some bullshit and unacceptable in 2018.



Also side note - why not just get a borla? Multiple to choose from (touring, s-type, atak) and ships out in 24 hours from multiple distributors (phastek) and you won't find a higher quality system...maybe on the same tier, but not better.



If you dont like the sound, nothing i can argue about that...to each their own.

Agreed on everything there except depending on the model he wants, they’re on backorder.
