Are you talking about the one that is integrated into the underside of the valve cover?

yes , I have a 16 ats 2.0 there is a place for a star type tool to turn it out, but i can't turn it , and i don;t want to screw anything up. I got a pcv for a 13 and it doesn;t have that place for the tool, are they different for the 16. thanks

There are 4 pcv valves in the ltg engine 13-18 all the same parts until you get into the internals. There is one on top held in by a locking clip. 2 on passenger side rear is out held in by a 10mm bolt. Front is fresh air in again held in by a 10mm bolt. Then there is the internal which can be seen when you unscrew the hex head plug. You cannot change that internal one by taking the hex head out. They also use a thread locker on it so it’s going to seem harder to unscrew than a normal bolt.
To change the internal pcv valve you need to remove the valve cover which is not an easy task, all data shows it as 6. Something hours for an a tech.. pulling that hex head plug out is going to do nothing for you unless you are installing a mishi catch can system.

That internal pcv valve is a ball valve and I highly doubt there is anything wrong with it.. what is the issue you are trying to fix? What problem are you having that makes you think that internal valve is bad?

Have an upper head clean done now. You’ll be set once you install the system.
