2nd gear problems tr6060

Does anybody have the problem where shifting in higher rpms, you get "locked out" of 2nd? Namely above 6k? If I shift around there it's fine but if I actually go to 6700 it won't go. It just grinds. Obviously shifting at 6k kills my ETs. 2>3 and 3>4 work fine Everytime.

Anyone have any solutions? I remember reading a while back that the gt500 guys would pull the shifter towards them while going to 2nd. It worked for some and not for others.

It's done it since I bought the car. I have already flushed the fluid and have redline d4 right now, which has helped 100% with the 2nd gear notchiness during normal driving.

How often do you flush your clutch/brake fluid?

Maybe the shift fork pad is fubar. But the rpm part of it leads me to the clutch disengagement

Haven't had that problem, but then, I hardly ever shift that high in 2nd. 6700 is approaching fuel cut-off on a stock SS from what I understand. In your case, it might be different.

Iirc an actual fix was to upgrade to the carbon blocker set for 2nd gear. Maybe I'll have that done this winter and do the bronze shift fork pads for all gears, and tailshaft bearing upgrade. While they're in there they can see if I need a new second gear and shift fork. As many times as it's happened now I can't imagine they aren't a little damaged.

Looking back at some logs I was doing 64-6500 (still low, but I think the previous year of it locking out had me too nervous to try any higher) successfully all year (with redline d4) up until the last time out.

Maybe it's a cold problem? It happened 3 times out of the blue that day, one on my best 60' to date, then it was good for the following pass, then 2 in a row it locked me out/grind. At that point I cut the track day short by about 2 hours.

I really thought these had the carbon blockers and triple cone synchros in the lower gears factory. That being said I did own a t56 that I mailed to a shop and it was a huge improvement. Not sure if u have anyone local but Someone like tick or Texas drivetrain perf would do an awesome job and u just mail it in a Tupperware. It was easy

Just make sure you install a slave remote bleeder once you’re in there

From one to two, no. The rest of them, yes. It's always made me nervous to try it with it not wanting to go while lifting.
