I don't think it's anyone's "fault". I think they are incompatible, and I think that technology moves very quickly.

I seriously doubt there was any ill intent here on either side, which would kind of be necessary when placing blame or finding "fault." I highly doubt there were heated boardroom debates over this technology featuring team Camaro and the guys from Apple. In fact, I doubt they ever spoke.

Things can be a way without any real "fault". Shit happens, pointing fingers isn't always necessary.

This message thread is over 4 years old, but yes it will work with a 2018. GM has a bulletin out about it. It does not change the size of the paid, just updates to charge more types of phones. GM Parts Direct has it for around $86.

What truckrglenn said. It works on a 2018, I have it and it's been working flawlessly since late 2018.

With the new module I have a net positive charging rate on my phone even with Android Auto running constantly in wireless mode (wifi + bluetooth on, tyically displaying google maps).
