Exhaust That Works With NPP
Just wanted to ask a quick question. So I just got a Brand New 2018 Camaro 2SS and it came with the NPP Dual Performance Exhaust on there.
The sound is okay, but I was thinking that I wanted it "louder" with an aftermarket exhaust. My questions are the following: - What aftermarket exhausts work good with the NPP, in terms of maybe keeping the functionality but allowing for installation? - What aftermarket exhausts would provide an even louder sound than NPP? NPP is okay in Sport and Track mode, but I just feel like I need it to be louder than that? Or, maybe it's all in my head? Let me know your thoughts, thanks! |

More choices than you would think, below is a good place to start. Most use a band clamping system that may or may not require cutting the stock piping. Invest in a chain style pipe cutter and read the directions twice. Don't weld anything on an exhaust system as that's where it's going to fail (rust through). If you can hear it in person (local member) I would suggest that I have an AWE touring cat back (resonated). I can't imagine what the track version sounds like as this is pretty rowdy.

Awesome thanks guys!! I think I'm going to look at going with a Borla ATAK. I'm going to reach out to Phastek Performance because I would need someone local to install it, I wouldn't be able to install it at all lol.
Don't get me wrong though, the NPP exhaust is great and might be enough for most people. But I got this package mainly for the fully loaded features, including that big V8, so I want to bring that V8 allllll the way out in terms of sound lol. |

IMO, YMMV:
If you've got an M6 car, you don't have to worry about AFM and cat-back is an option. If your car is A8, then axle back will retain the AFM valves and be less hassle and less $$. |

I have a Borla Atak axle back system on my '19 and it is sweeeet! Warning though, it is very loud! Beware of your neighbors complaining lol.....It is very easy to install. 2 cuts and everything slides into the stock hanger locations. The most difficult part was switching over the NPP wiring from the stock system to the new one. They are a little tricky to reach, but nothing horrible. Enjoy!!

What tips for the Borla exhaust are you going to use? They have the stainless or carbon fiber tips. The carbon fiber tips just came available for the zl1. Not sure if is on the phastek website yet

Phastek also has them in flat black, which is what I bought.

I went with Borla ATAK 91125 axleback with the black tips (91125CB). Took about 2 months to get as they were out of stock, awaiting build, and had to come directly from Borla's manufaturing in TN. Got them and installed them Friday in about 3 hours. So far I really like them. You get some nice crackling with decel that I missed from my Roush Mustang. They have a more noticeably pronounced deeper tone throughout the RPM range than the OEM "muffler". It's pretty comical putting the car in "Stealth" mode now as well !! Just as an FYI, the aftermarket NPP systems include their own valves and that is reflected in their steep pricing. You just remove the OEM actuators (3 bolts) and install them on the new system before you install them. I would suggest getting a chain-style pipe cutter if you're going to install them yourself. Was pretty difficult to cut the OEM exhaust strait-ish with my sawzall and a metal blade and also try not to scratch up the rear suspension. Might have been easier with a lift rather than my jack stands and ramps though.
