Clutch overuse light and now check trans light on
I am pulling all of my hair out. I just had the clutch, flywheel, t-out bearing and pressure plate replaced 1600 miles ago. I have a code reader so I will check it out, but this has happened before. . My 2020 Camaro had been running fine, and I only use it on weekends. I just dont understand what could kill a clutch in 1600 miles.
Has anyone else had the clutch overuse light on the 3.6 with the TR3160 6 manual? How about the check trans light? I dunno what to do except clear the code and trade it, or fix it with no confidence that it will stay fixed. Im going full pirate here with ARRRGGGGHHHH. Please let me know if any of you have had this happen, and maybe a fix for it. One thing I noticed is that it was not engaging smoothly. It would buck a little and I was really careful how I used it. I love the car. Thank god I only owe $17k on it so trading it is a real possibility; but a last resort. Ugggh. Last edited by Camrochris; 07-27-2022 at 07:39 AM. |

2020 is a bad year for Camaro. Seems weird at that low miles.

My 2020 LT1 is absolutely flawless, it was built late 2019 before the world went to shit. |

OP stated he replaced everything, and now it needs it again 1600 miles later. Previous owner didn't drive it the last 1600 miles.
Clutch, throwout, flywheel and pressure plate. Not sure what would cause something to fail again so quickly. Anyone else "sneaking" drives you don't know about? As for the 2020 model year comment, mine was also built late 2019, and is completely flawless and trouble free! |

Is the car is still under warranty. How many miles were on the original clutch? What happened to cause it to fail first time? bad pressure plate? throw out bearing? Clutch abuse? Who did the repair and I would take it back since it has failed again. Only issues I have heard with clutch failure is people putting too much power through them. When it's time to do mine I plan on upgrading to a better than OEM.

The clutch was not assembled correctly if those parts failed that fast.

How many miles on car when clutch went out ? Mine was built 7-20 and has 34k miles, clutch is ok. It's not a nice clutch to operate but better than automatic to me.The clutch in the V8 is much better. Rock auto has several different replacement clutches for this car. Imagine proper install is a must.Baby it for first 500 miles, no full throttle.

Your driving habits may be suspect. Keep your foot *completely off* the clutch pedal unless you are actively using the clutch.

Same here! but I only have 5K miles on my LT1. Out of 6 modern (5th + 6th gens) the only one that had a any issues at all was my 2015 M6 ZL1. GM bought that one back even though I bought it used.

The OP was not ABOUT to tear a trans apart for a "clutch overuse warning". I took it to a respected transmission specialist. Even when I dropped it off it took 50 minutes for the light to come on. (In January). I replaced everything a normal person would have replaxed. Which is EVERYTHING having to do with the clutch. Press plate, friction disc, flywheel and release bearing. The clutch was "burned up"....there was no indication of any other damage, and when I bought it....how much could have possibly been wrong with a car that had 3500 miles. To the O/P who said I didnt do this or that. BULL****. Any reasonable person would have done what I did!!! Not "gee, why dont you tear it all apart! Because that makes sense. I am thinking about replacing the entire rebuilt trans. If I was made of $$$ I would have bought a 2SS.
