Car was declared to be a total loss, my insurance settled for $39,296.09 after my $500 deductible which I will get back if they are able to recover the money from the girl who caused the accident (won't be holding my breath on that though).

Car had 40,316 miles on it & I paid $46K out the door in 2017 so I think I was treated fairly by Farmers Ins.

Going to wait until Spring to look for a replacement, hopefully by then the chip shortage will be over & car prices and selection will be back to normal levels

My coworker's family member had an accident where the value of the car totaled exceeded their property damage by $70k. In their case that family member, since they were at fault, had to come up with the $70k out of pocket. I think you'll get all your money.

Chip shortage expected to last well into 2022 if not the year from everything I've read.
Glad it's working out for you and no lasting injuries.

Glad to hear you are okay and you were treated fairly by your insurance company!

I got hit a couple of days after your accident; uninsured driver ran a red light and fortunately for me were found to be 100% at fault.

Sucks that our insurance has to pay and have to go after the uninsured or underinsured.

Wow, that sucks & I am sorry to hear that, hopefully your insurance co. treats you fairly. How badly was your car damaged?

I agree 100% that it is wrong that our insurance companies have to foot the bill for irresponsible people and the guy that hit you should be in jail for driving without insurance

I also think carrying 25K property damage is outdated, how many cars on the road are worth 2 to 3 time that amount now a days?

And I just received notice from my insurance company that they were able to get full recovery from the responsible party and are refunding me my $500 deductible

I guess that there are some decent companies and responsible people left in the world

Glad you are OK. To me it is so selfish of someone to run a red light and cause something like this.
