2014 1LE conversion to 2017 ZL1/1LE brakes

Hi all, I have an opportunity to pick up some 2017 zl1 1le brake calipers and was wondering if anyone had already tried to make this work? My biggest concern is the cost of rotors, I haven't found a reasonably affordable option. Any insight is appreciated.

Hoping for less than $400 per rotor.

Check Amazon, they had them a month or so ago for a reasonable price. This will be a great track package. The only downside is the added weight and cost of rotors.
AC Delco 177-1247
RockAuto has them for $350 right now.

I am pretty sure you will have to get the rotor hats from a Gen5 ZL1 and use them on the ZL1 1LE rotors. I believe the hat offset is different.

Thanks CDB, I was concerned about the offset as well but what you stated makes sense. I agree on the track performance, I toasted the stock brakes at the Colorado Mile last year and need way more brake to slow big girl down if I go again.

Do you have brake ducts?

Correct cooling will make a big difference, no matter the rotor size. What happened to your brakes when you say they were toasted?

How fast did you run in the mile? I see there is a 1/2 mile shut down distance. When you are finished slowing down in the shutdown area, are you able to continue driving the car (without using the brakes)in order to cool the brakes down? If you park the car without an off-brakes cool down, they will heat soak, and that can cause issues.

Fastest run of the weekend was 185.6 and that makes a half-mile shutdown very very short for 4400# to get whoa'd down. You do get some time to drive after, getting back to your pits. I was likely due for new brakes regardless, but the mile took them over the edge. I'm looking to do more road race events this year so I'll look into ducts, I'm sure they will help.

Brakes

Nothing wrong with Brembo's on there already. Upgrade to drilled and slotted rotors w/Hawk Performance pads and you'll stop quick and cool!
Running Whipple 2.9 supercharger at 10psi on E85, tuned to 757 rwhp. No problem stopping with the Brembo's. Changed size of rear tires to Goodyear 305's for a little more traction.
You may want to up your clutch and flywheel instead. I'm running a McCleod billet twin-disc RXT and matching billet flywheel, rated up to 1k hp

Are you running road courses with that combo? My car is fully built outside of the brakes and that was my plan for this season to get into some corners.

I would not run drilled rotors for road course. They will crack. Slotted would be a choice. I personally run the ZL1 brake setup and road coursed with them. No issues with them and yes, I rebuilt my 6 piston brembos with the vette vented pistons.

Have the zl1 splash shields, brake ducts, and zl1 front end...

Now over 800 RWHP and RWTQ... auto too!

I ran stock brakes with RS683 fluid and no ducts on high plains raceway road course, and had no issues. I'm going to new stock rotors and Pagid yellow pads for my next event as current stock pads are getting low. I added the z/28 ducts while I had the bumper off for the oil cooler install. I've raced a few different cars on track, all with stock brakes. I've always just added some ducts, better pads, and better fluid. I say get some ducts, new stock rotors and more aggressive pads.
