Goodyears in the rain! Yikes

So rain into a small rain storm this afternoon while driving on the freeway with my 2018 2SS M6 Hotwheels Convertible.
Talk about a pucker moment, the car got all kinds of loose! Felt like the tires were hydroplaning rather than dispersing the water. Really glad it only lasted about 5 minutes. Gotta say not impressed with the Goodyears!

Had 2 sets of the P Zero's on my 5th Gen and they were great in the rain.

Is this a common complaint for the Goodyears or is it just me?

That's what happens with you bring a toy car to the real world.

HAHA, sorry, I couldn't resist.

A few questions for you:

1. How fast were you going in the rainstorm?

2. Did you switch the driving mode to Snow/ice mode?

When i have been caught in the rain i have switched it to Snow/ice driving mode and drive slow...Haven't had issues, yet.......

Hilarious!

On a serious note: I actually experienced the same this weekend on a small road trip and I did not like the feeling. I hate getting her wet to begin with. I’ve had it just over two weeks so I wasn’t use to it either. Any heavy rain or standing puddles will spell trouble. Thank GOD I plan on switching to performance all season this late fall.

Hopefully, when we leave the hotel tomorrow night it will be clear and sunny.

That’s a tip I will remember: driving mode change.

Interesting. I live around Houston and we get plenty of rain. I have not had any issues yet but I do slow down when it is wet.

I daily drive mine year round with the stock Goodyear’s on April through November. I’ve never felt hydroplaning but I am cautious in heavy rain.

I run Sottozeros in the winter but still need to drive with caution. 455 lb-ft will get you sideways no matter what tire you have if you don’t have a sense for the road

Hydroplanning means get off gas and drop 5 to 10mph -- or MORE to maintain contact patch.
