Whats better for racing sport or touring mode?
I thought itd be obvious sport is the way to go but Ive heard that touring is actually better for racing. Is this true?

What kind of racing? Does your car not have a “track” mode. Also if you don’t have a ZL1 or SS 1LE, all the modes do is change the way the steering feels, changing them will not affect “performance”.

Very little experience here , but a YouTuber I follow has a camaro with lots of mods and tuned by pray. He drag races and his best times are always in tour.

I find the bumps are harder at speed and you need more damping to control the chassis movement and keep the tires on the ground, so track. I tried tour at a really rough track and it was horrible. It was a little counter intuitive with the track setting, but I can't really see ever using tour for the track. I've tried sport a few times, but it's not better. I far prefer the linear throttle in track too.
I'm talking about the track, not the strip. Also, adjustable suspension.

The 'tour' recommendation is for drag racing in cars that have MRC. Reason for the recommendation is softer suspension in hopes of more weight transfer to the rear tires under acceleration. Obviously cars that don't have MRC will not soften the suspension going into tour mode.

All my cars in the Lt Platform have run faster in Sport, maybe because I don't have MRC. I've tried them all and Sport Shifts quicker, harder and it's just produced better ETs and higher MPH then touring has. From my low 9 second 16 SS Camaro, my 10 second C7 to my low 10 second 2022 Lt1 SC Camaro it's work better for me.

From my understanding, it changes throttle response and % of throttle to get to WOT. Touring mode is toned down so it takes more pedal to get the same acceleration as Sport and Track. Sport is less pedal with the same acceleration. Track is a 1:1 ratio. I use track mode when I am at the strip. It is a setting that can be changed when tuning the vehicle. There is also stories of tuners doing this on purpose when people install mods that are known not to improve performance such as CAI. They simply decrease the amount of pedal % to get the same acceleration as the other modes. The car "feels" faster or more responsive when it really isn't.

Car in track, but force the suspension into tour in the vehicle menu in the radio. Track has the best throttle response but you want that weight transfer for drag racing.
For roll just straight track. |

In my case, not an option I can use. The idea of weight distribution is valid.

I ran back to back 1/4 mile runs at the last drag day with my 2018 2SS vert changing only the drive mode and the times were pretty much identical
