I built a number of modified tri five Chevy cars with high compression motors, headers and AZ heat. I used the braided type ground straps in various lengths/widths. Multiple grounds to points on the chassis. Redundant but never had a slow cranking issue with the cars. Make sure that the attachment point is clean for the best connection.

I don't know the bolt size. The bolt head takes a 15mm socket.

I didn't buy the bolt. It was already there.

I'll probably add one as a precaution in the spring when the weather heats up.

Funny I added one to my Escalade which made me buy a jump pack after getting stranded a time or two prior to adding the cable and it also fixed the problem. Now the jump pack was dead because it just sits now.

I have also had the same problem on my 2016 SS. I am on my fourth battery in four and a half years three replaced by the dealer the other person that posted a new battery makes the problem go away for awhile is 100% correct I have found that in all the new batteries that were installed that the problem was better for several months.

Put a new ground cable on it. What do you have to loose? Its certainly less money than another new battery.

I've read your thread and can totally understand your frustration.

Hey, its's Christmas Eve - throw a new ground cable on there - maybe you'll get a Christmas miracle. But seriously I hope you can get this fixed and put it behind you.

I put it on in Aug of 2019.
What the dealer say?

No doubt I paid more than I had to but I tripped across this item on another thread and decided - what the heck do I have to loose. Also the cable I bought is heavier gauge (thickness) than the Autozone one which will give better results. I think of it this way - Yes I over spent $40.00 on an item I could probably get elsewhere for much less - but that $40.00 made the number one most frustrating issue I've had with this car for years go away. For my peace of mind that is money well spent.
Awesome post, and I agree, $40 well spent. Looks like a nice beefy cable.

Here are my notes. The lug nut on the radiator support is 13mm a wrench is fine. The bolt you used is for MY pulley system??? it is 15mm and was a pain with my MM catch can in the way. I should of moved it. Once I got that long ass bolt out the tension of the belt released. Damn it I should of paid attention. Now time to address. BTW I love Lethal and putting on his flex fuel kit after I deal with this BUT I had a "Super Start, Battery Cable, 4ga, 19in " I think that is an Autozone part. I had it laying around in my shop and it looks perfect.

I just went back and listened to my video on the install location and realized I failed to mention that the engine bolt I used is part of the serpentine belt system. I didn't take the bolt all the way out. I just loosened it and then cut a small piece out of the ear of the lug and slid the lug under the bolt and tightened it down.

I'm sorry about that Teddyca! I apologize. I just went back to my first post and added an edit to point that out.

I hope its not too much work getting that belt tight again.

Dan- You came up with a great idea and a great writeup. I failed to pay attention. That's all me I am very grateful of your writeup and thank you. I got worse yesterday. By forcing the bolt back in for the serpentine I bent it and had to cut it to free it up. Now I have to wait for the dealer tomorrow to order another one. I went to OSH and found one close but with the tension I cant get it back together. I am missing something I am sure of it. I tend to struggle with the simple shit. LOL Truly appreciate your writeup my friend.
