does nav radio on ZL1 come with better sound?
Sorry if this is covered elsewhere. I'm thinking about a new 23 ZL1, but I'm a little confused on the stereo options. I've had both a V6 and an SS now.
On the V6 and SS models, when you opt for NAV, you get a better upgraded stereo system. On those models without NAV, the stereo sucks. I wouldn't buy another V6 or SS without NAV, cause that stereo sucks. Now on the ZL1, seems to me the stereo is the same either way, with or without the NAV? I believe the one I'm looking at is an IOS code, so no NAV. Can anyone confirm if the sound on of the stereo system is otherwise the same for ZL1 with or without NAV? |

If it helps I didn't option any sound/nav/tech on my 23 ZL1 and it has the Bose system installed as standard, a huge improvement over whatever standard/base sound system that was in my 18 1LE. I haven't heard this NAV radio option that you're talking about.

I believe it is the same Bose system with or without Nav. Mine doesn’t have Nav and is Blose. Not a huge fan, but hardly any stock stereos are great anymore. It’s one of the bigger inflated costs for an option on cars nowadays. Very cheap systems with higher price tags.

I had a Bose in my 94 Camaro and it was dog shat and I'm not a fan of Bose nor do I option audio systems by default but this one is a notable improvement over my 18.

You shouldn't even be able to hear the stereo on a ZL1 over the exhaust and supercharger whine.

The nav option only adds nav. The sound system is the same.

To paraphrase a classic, "hmm, these cars come with a radio?"

The stereo in the ZL1 is pathetic…it says Bose, but very very sad!
You can never get a good sound with the sorry ass 3 EQ controls they give you. Now you’re stuck….you can’t replace the head unit, and to try to replace speakers, you need Amps/crossovers to clean the different frequencies….the worst part of a ZL1…I put it on MUTE |

It’s not that bad, but by no means a JBL or aftermarket high quality system

Is it possible to easily add an amp and sub to the existing factory set up? I still have my amp and 10x2 ported box from back in the days that I would like to use.

The system isn't THAT bad. You might say "well it's a $70k car!". Yes, but it's also a $70k high performance sports car that's meant to give it to those exotic sports cars that cost way more. And those cars sound systems aren't great either. Pay $300k for a Ferrari and the sound system isn't that great either. |

I'm not suggesting it can't be done - it's just super expensive. And it can be done well. I already have what I need to add a sub', but I never listen to the radio anyways, as already pointed out in this thread, lol. Try checking out the audio section

If you are just adding subs, order a line out and the harness from sub thump to get signal with cutting into the factory harness. Everything is in the trunk so the install is super easy on the camaro. Before I went hog wild I installed my old school stuff from back in the day. I think it was like 150 bucks in a line out and harness to make it work

That's good to hear. I already have my 10x2 box and amp, but was worried about the fancy electronics nowadays. What do you mean by ordering a line out and harness? Is it kit that I can pick up at an electronic store like Best Buy? |
