Have you guys tried the Amazon Basics oil?

Apparently it's made by a good manufacturer and is Dexos certified. I'm finding it to be the cheapest option for oil

If you want to run 5w30, this is the best deal right now. Same oil as Amazon basic, dexos1 gen3 certified
https://www.costco.com/kirkland-sign...100690432.html
In store it's $31 for 2 x5 quart jugs.

Those STP filters follow the Fram part numbers, which 12060 is the equivalent to PF64.

SO, I have some info available… All I have to say is STP is a bizarre company. As has been noted, they don’t readily share their filter information online. I called their office # shown on the exterior of the filter box. My message went direct to a women’s VM in Tennessee. Today, I received a call from Massachusetts (local to me) and this fellow named Brock (that works remote), tried to answer my questions.

So here goes -

STP bypass is rated @ 14-17 psi (OEM is 22)
STP Flow Rate - Didn’t have that information available. (OEM 7.9 GPM)
STP Filtration - 25 Microns, but couldn’t tell me efficiency (OEM 98% efficiency @ 25-30 microns).

I asked why they don’t share their info like every other company in the world and his answer was a bit fuzzy… it surrounds the changes to 2016 LT1 / LT4 and up cars that utilize variable displacement oil pumps and their pressure spikes ( although said their filter was fine to run) . Yea, ok…well that’s what I was concerned with… 14 PSI is a lot lower than 22PSI and I don’t want or need to be concerned with the bypass opening and closing, when I hammer the throttle.

OK, I did my part… I’m done talking about oil or filters..

I scratch my head, an ACDelco PF64 is $5.90 on Amazon, it meets 100% of the OEM requirements for the engine, why run anything else?!?!?!

I agree with this, so I got a dozen at rock auto for $40. The Equinox also uses the PF64.

When you bought them, were they boxed indivudally? I ordered some from there previously but they came banged around in one box and the paint was chipped and seemed to be going inside the filter. Didn't wanna take a risk so I returned it.

I am also curious. The deal is great but I wouldn't want paint chips inside an oil filter either.

The filters were not individually boxed but had cardboard dividers between filters and were in perfect shape, not chipped or scratched at all. The first thing i did was check them all, I think they will be fine.

Just a heads up gents, this deal is still current. Follow that original link and click “view deals”. I just ordered another 10 quarts and 2 filters for my 1500 mile service. I’ll return the filters and grab the PF64.
