Sunroof No Longer Compatible with SS 1LE?

Hi guys, I was putting in an order for a 23 and the dealer is telling me that you can no longer order a sunroof on a 23 SS with the 1LE package. Has anyone else experienced this? I know this is true on the ZL1 1LE, but I know there are 22's with the 1LE package and sunroof on a SS.

A sunroof in the Camaro also reduces head room quite a bit.

Thanks guys. Yes I know I lose some head room, but I did sit in one without a sunroof, and I would say I had a solid 3-4 inches of headroom. I was concerned about that but i don't think it will be an issue even with a helmet. I don't plan to really tracking the car as I have limited time with a 3 month old at home, but I am looking for something to hold me over until my spot to order a Z06 comes to fruition. I do have a friend with a membership to Monticello, so there may be a chance I would get it on the track a couple of times.

I was really on the fence about a sunroof as I feel like it gives the interior a less enclosed feel, but I like the look without it. I was just wondering if anyone had the same issue while ordering a 23.

I had not heard that sunroofs were no longer available on 1LEs. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say Chevy is trying to reduce the number of options available for certain models in light of the supply chain issues. And I doubt that many 1LEs are ordered with sunroofs.

Yeah, nothing to do with incompatibility, since it’s the same car as before. All to do with option combination and reducing parts needed to make a car.

If the car is a 1SS, the sunroof has never been available with 1LE. It's been available on the 2SS with 1LE and the chevy website makes it look like it's still possible.

It is a 2SS order. Chevy's website is still showing 22's not a 23 (unless it updated last night). I did also find a sold incoming 22 with a sunroof, however the dealer is saying that it is kicking out the 1LE package if a sunroof is ordered and vice versa on the 23.

Sunroof on a 1LE package doesn't make sense. It defeats the purpose of the 1LE package Regular SS yes! I got rid of my regular 2SS for a 1SS 1LE for more head room. If you not going to track it go for it. I do miss it sometimes.

How does a sun roof affect a 1LE? I know less headroom but many use a helmet with no problem.

I think because it adds unnecessary weight. I personally like them without sunroofs anyways. You lose the reverse mohawk in the roof with a sunroof.

And that weight is in the roof of the car effectively raising the center of gravity of the car. It also reduces the structural rigidity of the roof structure.

I think it adds stability and the comb over is better than a mohawk.

What kind of BS is this?

The middle of the roof doesn't carry the load, the stiffness is being carried from the edges, so cutting a hole in the middle doesn't really do anything (IE: "speed holes"). The fact that it's not a convertible is 1000% more relevant. If you look at any design like this in FEA you'll see the "hot color" stress concentrations all around the edges and vertical supports. The middle of the roof will be blue (cold). There is of course a tiny weight gain and if you are a person over 6' you might have your helmet touching the top, but I'm 5'11" and do not have that problem. Cool fact though, most helmets don't fit through the door window...so you are probably going to die.

The sunroof was only available with the 2SS package I believe. That's what I have. Could have been changed.
