Rotors for 1le

New front rotors which one to get the stock ones or get the dba rings or girodisk rings? The price is about the same for all 3 right at $800. I like the weight savings on the girodisk, but have heard good things about the dba’s. Also the stock ones have done very well.

its a wear item so id go cheap. and i thought OEM was only about $300 something a piece for a complete rotor and hat. GM makes a slotted rotor to save weight and help on track. its probably the most money but its complete.

this is a much better value when you get all the parts.

If you aren't tracking, no need to do anything but OEM.

It’s tracked majority of the time.

Those are for the ZL1, not the SS 1LE, right? I think the OP is looking for 370mm rotors.

I’m thinking of going with the dba’s over the girodisk. I was thinking they would be a little better than the stock ones. Just wanted to get some feedback from people that have put them on in place of the stock ones.

I've run both the OEM and DBA rings pretty hard on track. I haven't found any subjective/objective difference between the two based on lap times, pedal feel, or longevity. I'd personally just go with whatever's cheapest, and if they're all the same price I'd go with OEM. Only reason I say OEM if cost is equal is that it's balanced as a unit and there's no possibility of user error when assembling the ring to the hat. Not that those are big risks if everything it being assembled properly, just a little extra peace of mind.

I use the dba's and like them a lot. I just put on my 2nd set of rings and made the jump to put them on the rear as well.

knsbrakes.com usually has them in stock.

In my experience with a C5 Corvette Z06 race car over many years of tracking, the the DBA,(Australian GM), rotors outlasted the GM dealer rotors. I'd call KNS Brakes. They sell both Girodisk and DBA if I'm not mistaken and really know what they're talking about. Based near VIR.

Is this a direct bolt on? For only $30-40 more per rotor, seems like the way to go if so.

I believe you have to remove the hat it comes with and install the hat from your old rotor. There are some more detailed discussions about it if you search. I haven't done it myself. The slots will wear brake pads faster so I just went with another set of stock rotors. The stock rotors have directional cooling vanes inside (different part numbers for left and right) but the Corvette rotor linked from gmpartsstore above seems to be the same for both left and right.

That’s a corvette but yes GM has a grooved rotor if you like that’s 100% bolt on.

Installing new girodisc hats/rotors, girodisc Ti shims and carbotech XP20 pads next weekend. First track day in 2 weeks, I'll post how it shakes out.
