Scoring on brake rotors..?

I’ve got scoring on my front right brake rotor. Had my brake pads changed just last year. I don’t feel anything or hear anything when I brake. Is this normal?

Not really, my first thought is maybe a small rock wedged itself between the pad and the rotor.

For new pads, did you stick with semi-metallic or try something else?
I find the semi-metallics to be very hard on the rotors. I have ceramics up front and the semis in the rear. there is more scoring and, yes, more brake dust in the rear.
The deep gouge could be foreign material stuck to the pad, as arpad suggests. the question is, if you bother to check, do you want to just go ahead with new pads and rotors while you have it apart?

A rock got caught between the rotor and pad.

I put on same pads as OE, which I believe are semi-metallic

Think you guys are probably correct. Must be just a rock stuck in between. I’ll take it apart tomorrow and post what I see

Picked up a rock during an AutoX event one day in my FoST.

Looks just like your pic.
