Question Jacking the back of a 2022 Convertible

I've look in the forum jump but can't find anything on lifting the back end off the ground to pull the tires. I want to paint the rear brake calipers, so I have to get the tires off the ground. I've seen adds for a pinch weld puck. and the rear end isn't that strong, I don't think. So, has anybody used the cross member behind the rear diff.?

The jack point is in front of the rear wheel well. And you will need a pinch weld puck to lift it. Just have to do one side at a time. Unless you have jack stands with the appropriate pinch weld adapter.

I believe you are NOT supposed to try lifting from any other area of the car if I'm not mistaken.

When i swap wheels i use the pinch weld spot that is about 20" behind the front wheel well. there is one that is closer to the front. From the #2 spot, both front and rear wheels come off the ground. granted this is for the coupe.
Got the tip here years ago on the impressive chassis rigidity.

I just jack mine up in the rear right under the spring perch. Perfect spot and since I have two of the small aluminum low profile jacks I just jack both side a the same time.

The challenge is the bracing. I think some coupe owners lift with the cross member but the bracing blocks that access on a convertible. I don't think the brace support behind the cross member is strong enough to lift the car.

Slide a floor jack under the rear end diff housing and be done with it. I put a 1 inch piece of wood on the floor jack cup so there is no metal to metal .

Between the little x in the blue pic is where I jack mine. Just push the jack head as far back as the x will let me . Its beefed up their from the coop that just has a member there.

Fortunately I have 2 floor jacks.
I bought 4 hockey puck pinch weld pads off Amazon for a few bucks a piece and use the gap in the body cladding front or rear which are the 4 pinch weld lifting points.
I just go back and forth lifting each side.
I also run winter tires and just lift one side of the car at a time swapping tires out using the 2 jacks.
Ive crawled around under there and even the jack stand spots dont look like places Id be comfortable dropping the weight of the car on.
I considered using the rear diff but found it too far to reach and be able to pump either of my jacks with all the muffler and cladding in the way.
Also got a set of the race ramps for oil changes and Ive used them along with the jacks on both sides to lift the car level to do oil change and rear diff at the same time.
Going to do the trans that way in the summer.
I did put jack stands under while I had the car up like that but did not settle the weight down on them.
The pucks work great. I leave the 4 of them in the trunk in case something happens on the road.
Seems like a lot of money for tools and all. But I enjoy doing all the maint. I can handle.
And we do intend to keep the car.

Cars have been jacked on the differential for a 100 years, just use care and stay on the body of the diff and not on the cover.

Yes but but, the 6th gen doesn't use a gravedigger diff?

ing for 6th gen diff to 5th gen diff swap.

Use the cross support under the rear end. I use a 6x6 and a bottle jack and then put jack stands under the pinch welds as soon as it gets up high enough.

i used the diff. literally so many cars say right in the manual to use the diff. dont see why this would be any different.

my c4 corvette did the exact same thing. it went as far as both sides of the rear going up together if you only had a jack on one side. impressive for a 40 year old car with 117k miles and generous negligence.

to the op: another vote for the dif.
