Someone I work with has the factory side skirts on his car. I took noticed the underside of the skirts are boxed in. I was wondering what effect wind would have on opened bottom skirts.

I know you can rivet them to the rocker panel to keep them secure. I'm more concerned about the rocker panel itself self being pulled off the car. I know they are held on by factory pop-rivets. I wonder if they could fail if enough of a wind catches the underside of the skit.

I never heard any complaints of that happening. Anyone else every hear of something like that happening?

NOPE. I can attest to the fact that they wont fail at 180MPH plus and if they were going to fail I have given them every chance to do that. I went off track at 100 plus through some dirt and grass at a somewhat sideways angle and they were fine as well. They fact that they are hollow underneath may actually be an advantage because they flex a bit more (bend but dont break??).

Are any aftermarket skirts solid or only factory skirts?

I think MOST of the MORE expensive aftermarket skirts are SOLID. EOS of course ARE NOT but thats a reason they are 400 dollars compared to 1000 dollars or more.

You are wrong, maybe the ultra expensive Anderson Composites stuff is solid, but I seriously doubt even that, because the SS rocker panel is standalone, unlike its ZL1 counterpart, and there is no practical way to mount a closed profile side skirt to it. I have good quality C7 Carbon skirts and they're hollow bottom, just like the rest.

I agree. I don't see any way to securely mount a solid side skirt (say that three times) to the rocker, unless the side skirt already came mounted on a replacement rocker. Tape or an adhesive just are strong enough.

My buddy's factory side skirts are double sided taped on. He said they are starting to pull away from the car (non ZL1). Seems like the after market skirts hold up better.

Yeah, there is too much aero force to keep them on the car without screws or rivets.

Not beat a dead horse.

How do the EOS side skirts feel when you handle them? Do they feel sturdy. I heard some aftermarket skirts feel flimsy and flex easily in your hands. I was debating about getting a set of those.

No not really Matt. They are almost seven feet long so they do have some flex to the them. The carbon fiber ones are a little stiffer than the painted ones because the carbon fiber weave material adds some siffness to their structure. Just put rivets about every six inches apart and you will be fine strength wise. To give you some idea I used 25 rivets per side skirt.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between the EOS T6 Style and ZL1 style side skirt?

Which blocks more rocks and which fits the Camaro better?

How well does the unpainted black match the 1LE factory front splitter and rear spoiler?

The EOS T6 style side skirts feel sturdy, but I am not sure I like the way they look. I put them on with double sided tape, and they don't seem to fit well with the tape alone. May need rivets to make them fit more snug, but the idea of punching holes into my new car makes me cringe.

Thinking of changing to their ZL1 side skirts.

I bought ZL1 style side skirts from ebay for $120, and they seem super flimsy compared to the EOS T6 style ones.

Although apparently not too popular, I like the ABS side splitters from MAGG.

I picked them because they match my ABS rock guards, and until I saw the earlier post about EOS, they were one of few cheap options.

I like the grassroots racing look and they appear to stick out a little further than the sculpted OEM style

They do not do as much to block rocks as the rock guards do.

Mine are rigidly attached with machine screws, washers, and nuts. Survived several cones and high speed road course work.
