How to Get Rid of Drone?

I installed kooks 2" headers, non green cats and their complete 3" dual exhaust on my 2017 Camaro back in 2019.

It flows great but the drone is really really bad. My wife doesn't even want to go in the car. The A8 probably makes it worse because it keeps it at a lower rpm. I still need to put the rear valance on but at this point doubt it effects the drone.

Is the best option to try to find replacement mufflers?

I was thinking about the J pipes from Solo Performance but I think I should try the mufflers first.

I have Kooks, non-green cats going into the factory NPP exhaust. Nice and loud when I want it to be. No drone at all when cruising in any of the three modes.

My suggestion to get away from drone is to stay away from mufflers that are nothing but straight-through perforated pipes surrounded by fiberglass fill. This type of muffler sounds great at idle and WOT, but have no mechanism to cancel out the drone. They will quiet down the overall loudness slightly, but will not do much for the drone. If you go to that link above, all those mufflers shown are like that, even the X pipes.

To get rid of drone, you need "Volume" - not sound volume, but empty space volume. It is like when you blow on an empty pop bottle and the air resonates or hums - the same exact thing is happening in your stock exhaust, it is just humming in such a way to cancel the drone (google "Helmholtz resonator"). The J-pipes give you the cancellation volume externally, and a lot of the aftermarket companies make mufflers that have the tuned volume internally. Corsa advertises their design on their website under the "Technology" tab. If you look at the picture on the right (on their website), it shows a two chamber Helmholtz resonator type muffler. Borla also has designs like this with internal cancelation, and a lot of companies do the external volumes (MBRP, Solo, and others).

Best advice is to find someone with a similar setup to yours and copy it exactly. Most of the aftermarket stuff is going to be tuned to the stock headers, so it might not work 100% with the Kooks (but will probably still cancel some of the drone). The stock muffler has a TON of volume too, so that is probably a good start if you just want to just get rid of the drone in a hurry.

Stock suitcase or a mid-pipe resonator.

Curious to know if you got the high flow kooks cats or just regular cats? I have the high flow cats and no drone going into stock NPP.
