Searching the GM accessories site it shows up for the LT1, so that's what I was going by. I wouldn't be totally surprised if it was wrong but most of the GM parts sites also list it fitting the LT1. I can't say that I have any firsthand experience trying to install it but that might be something I try in the future. https://accessories.chevrolet.com/pr...tegoryId=98070

If you do go for it, let me know. I recall reading somewhere the e-brake was setup differently enough to cause issues. It was in the brakes section of this forum, never verified myself.

I needed new tires all the way around at the 11,000 and 22,000 mile marks on my 2016 1SS.

For the same price I got a faster car (more comparable to the 2012 ZL1 actually) as well as a bunch of features that wouldn't have even been available for the 1SS. |

But the Gen5 ZL1 is cooler and got way more attention if you are into that. And I prefer my LT1 over my Gen6 A10 ZL1. I will keep the LT1 if I it makes sense. But then life happens.

https://www.shopchevyparts.com/perfo...-92296042.html This site states: *Only for use on 1SS and 2SS Models *NOT for use on LT1 (V8) Models or Models with V6 or Turbo I4 Engines *Although the LT1 model has a V8 Engine, the e-brake design is the same as V6 and Turbo I4 models It would be nice to have the option for bigger rear brakes, but these cars were built with drag racers in mind. The smaller brakes allow you to run the 17" Drag Pack wheels.

Even better, if you search by trim level it shows up even on GM's dealership accessory ordering site, but if I put my vin# in it doesn't show up anymore. From my experience working at a dealership, that's about exactly what I would expect from them.

You can by the looks of what I understand reading still get the 6 piston front brembos though for the LT1. Others can correct if I am wrong. |

From what I understand, yes you can upgrade the front. It's that dang e brake that gets us on the rears.

Wow, this thread has morphed in a entire different direction. My guess is GM was trying to save money on the LT1 and keep the cost down to consumers, so it didn't use the SS rear brake setup. It worked in the sense that the baae LT1 is a performance bargain.

Not sure I understand the point of an optioned LT1. Its your money. But a 1ss its not that much more money and comes with better cooling, better brakes, better tires, and better infotainment standard.
I do like that LT1 gives the same tires all over which will save your money vs. the staggered setup SS. |

I could see looks being a factor there are those that like the look of the LT1 front over the SS. I was in that boat but now I like the LT1 and SS front ends equally. The other reason is and I don't know why 1SS cannot have BOSE and the LT1 can. I don't really count tires and wheels to be honest in the cost decision anymore between the SS or LT1 at least in my current living area. If I had gotten an SS I would have bought a set of winter tires and wheels. LT1 buyers are buying more performance orientated wheels and using stocks for winter. I would have paid pretty close to similar give or take a couple to few hundred no matter if I went with the LT1 I currently have or the 1SS. I have them priced out for my LT1 just have not pulled the trigger due to medical reasons and a family affair. Last edited by Devstrike; 06-25-2022 at 01:36 PM. |
