My Kooks green GESI cats failed after two 20 minute sessions at the track, they were on the car for a year of street driving before that

I was told by a reputable tuner that Kooks green GESI cats are rated at 1400hp, but I wasn't told that by Kooks

Maybe the car was tuned incorrectly. The tune can affect the temp of the cats too.

They were probably failing on the street before your track session. I would of never known if I didn’t scope them, or until they completely plugged or blew out. Mine didn’t melt, they just got all bent inwards.

What symptoms did you have when they failed? Noise? CEL?

I contacted GESI with the numbers on the “green” kooks cats, they told me the were 500hp each. I’m not there, but I’ll look at the cats soon.

Based on the sound they make going down the track, I think mine are dead.

Both of mine are starting to fail. I contacted Kooks about it, they rate them at 425hp each. They came back with they failed because I am running E with a flex fuel sensor. We are still in discussions. I'm below 850hp at the crank.

I thought E reduced egt along with a cleaner burn. how does that make sense?

They are full of it. Mine failed on pump gas making 680whp. They all fail like this, they start to bend and once that starts it’s all downhill. I’ve got a box of 3 sets, all broken. Thankfully the gen 2’s are still holding up.

CSP has catted headers w/ G-power V2 Ultra Cats that can withstand 1700 hp. They're pretty sweet and perform better than the green cats (over twice the capacity). They are over $3k without any type of heat coating though.

It’s What’s on my car. Soon to be tested on 1k+ whp.

They don't. The cats being discussed are the most capable, and this thread is about them failing. GESI Gen II cats seem to be the best so far.
