The best sport car for the money: Camaro SS1LE, but I'm not sure if it would be able to beat the Mach l in a track?

Would be close. Andy Pilgrim lapped NCM in a SS 1LE at 2:15.6 and in a GT350 at 2:15.1. The Mach has a lot of Shelby parts but less HP with a Coyote vs the Voodoo in the GT350. I have not seen a full head to head Mach 1 vs SS 1LE with a pro driver. That said in my experience the SS 1LE feels more planted and stable in street driving than the Mach 1. Sometimes it feels like the Mustang wants to kill me. Maybe the Cup 2 tires, they seem to wander on the highway. In the real world at a track day for instance, the driver will be the biggest variable.

I was holding out on my order for the Camaro until I saw the Z reviews. I got very suspicious as Nissan's language changed from a Supra-killer, to a dance partner, to a GT-car, to a whatever now. Once I read the reports of it's handling characteristics and all the BS nonsense that was baked into it by Nissan, I bailed and called up my dealer and placed the order immediately. $53k is WAY too much for that car in performance trim. Granted it will make some crazy power quickly with mods, but everything else with it's chassis dynamics is just a no go for me. The Nismo may fix this, but it'll be even more money and won't be worth it's price getting shoved into Corvette and ZL1 territory even.
