Now it’s time to have fun.
I did the same thing. Under break-in driving. Didn't see it in the perf manual either but someone in this thread did show it to me. Had my 1500 on it in just 3 days too.

I've got several cases of Mobil 1 5w30 Dexos and PF64 filters from my previous C7 Z06. My new ZL1 will never see track use, street use only. It will be stored from November to April in northern AZ.

Is anyone using Mobil 1 5w30 in their 2020 ZL1?

I did the 500 mile engine oil/filter and rear diff. The diff could easily go to the 1500 mile mark. I would definitely do the engine oil and filter at the 500 and 1500 miles to get rid of the break-in material...

This is a pic of my filter, exactly 500 miles!

Good info in here, Thanks!

Called my local dealer ‘ had them run my vin for service record & it appears the previous owner did not have it changed & now the car has 2K miles on it. He was supposedly an 80yr old guy so I doubt he did it himself.

Their parts dept. found me another dealer about an hr away that has the Liter size inn stock & will sell it to me.

Thanks for the tips.

I replaced my 0w40 oil with 15w50 Mobile1 & a PF64 filter along with the GM differential fluid at the recommended intervals on my 2019. Torqued the differential bolts to 24ft/lbs and oil drain bolt to 30.

A few metal shards on the top tranny plug. The refill took the factory spec of exactly 1.2 quarts.

I'm getting an oil analysis on the 0w40 to see if it's safe to run at the track with my fast but not aggressive driving style and will test the 15w50 at the next oil change along with an eBay Neodymium magnetic oil drain plug.

This is a lot more than the old day. I got about a month before my ZL1 arrives in Bangkok. I better make sure I can get all the required fluids over here pronto. I'm wondering if Chevrolet has it in stock since they don't carry this vehicle here. I got a feeling I'm going to have to import it from Australia. Driving this beast in Thailand will be awesome. but I think I'm going to have to invest in a lift.

Scared sh#tless I am a first time owner of a ZL1 ragtop and after reading many posts it sounds like the dealers are the least knowledgeable guys out there. Anyone know of a smart dealer service Dept. In Southern CT or North of NYC

So I've read the 2021 Camaro and Camaro High Performance Owners Manuals and have found nothing about break-in oil changes at 500 or 1500 miles, nor anything about changing the diff fluid during break-in. What's the reasonable man theory? A break-in oil change at 1000 miles, or at 1500 and then call it good until the first regular oil change? Or both oil and diff at 500 and 1500, which sounds pretty ridiculous to me?

I believe this is what most people go by.

Question:
2017 ZL1, 929 total miles at this time.
First oil change in 2018 at 420 miles ,
2019 2nd at 620 miles Dealer used 0w/40 BUT Euro blend
2020 3rd at 795 miles Again 0w/40 EURO but this time I noticed the use of Euro spec 0W/40 and had them change to DEXOS 2 ESP 0w/40 at their cost
2021 929 miles 0w/40 DEXOS 2 ESP and engine oil analysis states:
We noticed some very fine metallic glitter/debris in the sample bottle this time, so that's something to pay attention to. The microscopic wear metals look good -- that's the scale on which our spectrometer reads metals, so visible metal usually goes undetected in testing. In any case, the visible metal may not necessarily signal an issue for your V-8, especially if it runs well. Maybe it's due to lingering products of break-in since the engine's still got very low miles on it. No immediate issues stand out in the current data or emerging trend. Just check back in ~100 miles.

What could the "metallic glitter/debris be? My oil looked like previous post by ZL1 affair on 8/4/20, any hunch? Could that be because of the euro blend use?

In the Vancouver, BC area, it has been very difficult to find 0W40ESP. Only the GM dealers seem to have it available....at $25.95/946ml, so at that rate, you need 11 of the small jugs for an oil change. And no - the Mobil 1 oil.& lube shops did not even have it listed.

I was.resigned.to ordering from Summit,. Jegs, or some other on the internet.

Went onto the Mobil 1 website and looked up distributors, and found a local listing for "industrial lubricants'. They were happy to sell it to me, but I had to buy a minimum 2 x 6 packs. With tax, it cost me about the same as buying in the U.S., and shipping to my post office box at Blaine, WA, on the border.

Good.alternative to paying the crazy prices at GM! Good people also!

Check your local distributor my Canadian friends!

So, what should I do? I just picked up a 2022 zl1 1le with 780 miles on. Do I need to do the tranny and diff service at 1500 miles? I cant seem to find a positive answer.

Change the engine oil and diff fluid. No need to change the trans fluid, yet.
