The gear was not changed on the '19+ model years according to Katech, so the "19+ and you have nothing to worry about" theory is shot at this point imo

Not "losing my shorts" - completely legitimate cause for concern if you're out of warranty. BIG price tag and possible damage to other parts of the engine.
My failed after driving for almost 2 hours of highway driving and playing with a Lambo, Sprints up to around 120. I got off the exit and had no oil pressure at an idle. The oil temp was in the normal range, coolant temp in normal range.

How long should one wait to fully run the car? I wish I had oil temp readout. I've just been waiting for the coolant temps to get up to operating range.

Isn't "common sense" to run car full blast after oil gets to operating temperature? which in case of muscle/sports cars you can monitor on the dash. Engine is made out of metal... metal shrinks at low temp... different metals shrinks on different levels... so... Wait of operating temperature where all clearances as to the spec of the design. Plus pump will have less trouble pumping this stuff, but that is happening sooner than operating temperature.

It does have an oil temp gauge. Go to the performance option on the menu and cycle through until you see oil temp. If you only wait until the coolant temp is up to temp the oil is still only about 140-150 degrees. I usually wait until the oil temp is closer to 200 degrees and I see the oil pressure lower a little bit at idle before I do any hard pulls.

Keep in mind that Katech wants to sell some product.

There have been 6 versions of this pump, the new ones do seem to be fine. Blindly trusting that Katech's pump will be any better than a new OEM one is pretty baffling, to me.

Any tech bulletins like they have for the bad tensioner shoe/spring?
This is a vane type pump. So gear gets stressed from pushing too much cold oil? Hot oil? I'm guessing there's a bypass valve other than the filter, but I'll have to check the repair manual.
I had posted this, which mentions a 2-stage solenoid control, which may substitute for the conventional spring-type bypass:

The Katech pump has a billet steel gear, that's the reason - it's not going to fail

2018 With 6300 miles. Oil pump fail-scattered shrapnel throughout the motor. Long block replaced under warranty.

The outer housings crack also. I wonder if the Katech pump is beefed up in this area?

You guys are talking about the same part. The vane housing is what breaks. We have reengineered this part and produced it out of billet steel instead of the factory powdered metal.

Buy the Katech oil pump if you can find one available.
