I replaced mine last month. It was installed in the car when it was built in 9/16. I didn't want to go through this winter with a 6 year old battery. Could I have gotten more time out of it? Maybe, but I didn't want to chance it.

When I was living in Florida, seemed like factory OEM batteries were lucky to go over 3-4 years. Cars that didn't get driven much were always on Battery Tenders.

There is a similar thread here. My car was built May 2016, I purchased it new in Sept. 2016. I'm on the same battery that was in the car when I purchased it. It's my daily driver with just over 52,000 miles.

If you can afford an SS, you can afford the battery, let's just say that...lol. They're not expensive.

It’s funny that I just finisheth3 thread in EV’s and how GM is heavily entrenched, and I wonder….why would an EV battery last longer than the batteries we have now…
Lithium batteries for tools wear out too….

Replaced my AC Delco after 5 years just to be safe but if I had to do it over would wait another year. Got a Duracell AGM at Autozone which is now 2 years old. Don't drive many miles per year and have it plugged into a maintenance minder charger so I guess that helps.

My OEM battery lasted 4½ years. It failed a load test, which I always get done in year 4.

4-5 years is about the life of any car battery. Hot weather usually takes mine out. Rarely the sub zero temps

Replaced mine at 5 years. Was working OK before, but with the new battery cranks much better. Incidentally, kind of a pain versus changing a battery under the hood.

Car is 2017. Replaced in 2020 due to some kind of leaking/crystal formation at the top. I had never put a battery tender on it despite it sitting for long periods, so that may have made things worse. I keep a tender on it now if its going to sit longer than 1 week.

I had thought agm werent supposed to leak, but apparently they can outgas and leak just like regular lead acid batteries if there is an internal failure.

ACDelco units still have the vent holes, I replaced my original from Feb 2018 yesterday (still worked, but the car cranked more slowly, and the battery tester came back with only 430 CCA and 41% health when fully charged).

i bought aftermarket. hard to find ac delco ones here. 5 year warranty on the new one.
200 USD. fitted like a glove. it has a plug for the vent hole. he said it's sealed and not to touch it.
i take his word for it.
