Getting new front brakes

I’m an avid reader on here y’all, I have learned so much from this place and have seen a similar post about getting OEM pads installed. My local dealer had said the regular OEM are on national back order. They can get AC Delco that have the same dimensions…. I’m not really comfortable with that off the rip. I daily my car and really love to drive it. I plan to try and track in in NOLA this summer sometime (Not all day). Have y’all had issues with getting OEM pads? And should I have them swap the fluid at the same time? Thanks in advance!

Lots of stuff are on "back order". Your can go online yourself and have it in your hands in the next day or 2.

My go to place has always been Amazon as you can find it on there for a good price regularly.

They'll put DOT3 back in the car so if you plan on taking l tracking the car then buy some Motul RBF 600 DOT 4 fluid and make sure they put that in.

OEM pads and rotors are fine. Just swap out the brake fluid with Castrol SRF. If you're new to the track then don't do anything other than show up and ride.

They found some brembos that are OEM for over $500 about an hour north. They said it would be $40 extra bucks to get it. I found some after a quick google for $3xx. Follow up question. My fronts were 1mm from changing that backs are good I guess. I read some things about swapping all 4. I seen some different opinions on doing all 4 or just the fronts. Just wanted to pulse the group.

If the rears are good then don't change them. I would buy a set of rear pads so that when they are ready to be changed, you have them on hand.

By the way, don't ever buy any parts from the dealer. It's always going to be overpriced.

Rockauto or Amazon for the pads. The OE pad also has an AC Delco #. They are the same pads.

I know pics for parts are usually meaningless, but I couldn’t help but notice the summit pads said Made in Italy, and the Amazon said nothing. They’re probably all China now.

Brembo's are only made on Italy. I've order at least 3 sets from Amazon before and there was nothing but Italy written on it.

Yep, these pads are made in Italy. They are actually made by Ferodo. Another way to verify they are correct is to look for the HP1000 stamping on the backing plate. That is the actual pad material code.

Thanks guys! As an fyi Brembo does have a Chinese factory. When it comes time for pads I’ll have to cross that bridge, as I have the copper free brakes which definitely means I don’t have those pads…..

I know what you’re saying but over the last 35 years I’ve made it a point to buy everything from my dealer. They know me as a loyal customer and extend me the same pricing the local shops get. Having the dealer in your back pocket has gotten me parts and leads that are priceless. This is especially true if you have older cars that benefit from the brain of a seasoned parts guy. It doesn’t stop me from checking pricing on the net.
On the flip side, I have zero allegiance to the sales dept as the dealership has changed hands multiple times, but the parts manager is still there.
