8L45 valve body help needed

Hi, everyone

Here's the story:

I've encountered an issue with AT on my gen6 RS V6 Camaro being a bit slow on shifts and I did a rebuild at our local transmission workshop (Kyiv, Ukraine). They are the best that we can get in our country when it comes to AT rebuilds. After replacing all of the friction discs and overhaul they performed the "adaptation reset" (which I guess was initiating a fast learn procedure) with their local tech guy. Since our official Chevy dealers don't sell Camaros so they don't have the proper software for it.

I left the workshop a week ago and after driving for about an hour I noticed that the situation improved significantly - the AT reacted way faster than it did shifting both ways, the reaction to moderate and hard acceleration was nearly instant and it seemed that life will be great again. That was until I got to drive it next day - the situation got way worth than it was prior to the rebuild: constant kicks, even when driving slowly, long shifting times, etc. I
returned to the shop and they found an issues they've missed during the rebuild - the bores of the linear pressure valves and some accumulator pistons were screwed which lead to the whole valve body "hanging up" and not working correctly.

After two attempts to polish these bores, the situation is still where it was. At this point I think it would be better for me to make everything on my own, so I kindly ask for your help. Since we don't have an authorized dealership here I always got my parts from GMPartsDirect and shipped them to a freight forwarder in Delaware to have them delivered to Ukraine by air in 1-3 weeks.
But it says on the site that the valve body for 8l45 is discontinued so I tried a couple of other sites, bu I hit a dead end.

1) can anyone please share the online shop that sells new valve bodies for my AT?

2) is there a way to buy an official or third-party OBD cable + TCM software so I can assess the overall state of the AT while driving? (I know it should've been my first step, but better late than never)

Thank you

Rainfarer, what kind of TCM software did you have in mind? I have a midrange scan tool (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097R8Q122) that can read at least 100 TCM parameters in real time as live data, which I'm sure isn't a 100% coverage, but then the tool doesn't cost an arm and a leg either, unlike dealer level scan tools.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to offer in the way of purchasing new valve bodies, perhaps other members who work at dealerships can chime in with that information.

Thanks, this one looks pretty decent. By any chance do you have any screenshots of its GM menu or a list of what it can and can't do?

I was thinking of something like that https://www.hptuners.com/mpvi3/ , but I'm not sure whether it has all that's needed for TCM test

Well, I have an MPVI2 from HP Tuners, and it's primarily a tuning device, so although I'm sure it can read basically any channel, you may need to manually set them up. I don't think it comes with a full TCM preset (then again, maybe newer versions of VCM Scanner that is part of HP Tuners' free software suite come with more presets, mine only has SAE defaults and that's it).

As to what the D8 supports, check out this video that amazon page links to, it showcases a bunch of transmission related features starting at 7:28 into the video. I'll load the GM diagnostics module and post some screenshots for you later.

Thanks, that would be really helpful. At this point I need to hit the books and educate myself on how to perform a proper TCM testing and see what exactly is happening when the issues occur during drive. I've done this kind of troubleshooting for my BMW X5, but on a smaller scale when I was experimenting with xHP and MHD flashed in it. https://certifiedtransmission.wordpr...t-replacement/ - I assume this is done on the proprietary GM soft? I can't see exactly what this guy was using due to lowres screenshots

Okay, here's an incomplete, but representative dump of the TCM functionality this D8 scan tool offers (btw it already has a successor named, unsurprisingly, D9, but that one's much more expensive due to its novelty status).

There are a ton more parameters, but the forum engine will hate me already for posting so many screenshots

Note: Don't read much into individual channel values, the car wasn't running when I connected the tool. All the "live data" pages update in real time (5-10 times a second), the data can be graphed and overlaid etc.

Thanks a lot for taking your time to do this! Looks like this is the right tool for the job, so I’ve ordered d8 from ebay (there’s a discount on xtools official store). Now there’s one thing left - find a new valve body in case mine is beyond repair. Any ideas where to search for it?

Sorry, I don't have any better info than what you probably already do (this ebay item, for example). Perhaps someone else who had their 8L45 or 8L90 rebuilt can chime in with a rebuild shop's contact info, or an alternative parts source.

Thanks, I'll continue to dig through sites as well
