SS manual transmission fluid
So the manual says GM #88861800- which is manual transmission AND transfer case fluid. Rockauto pulls up a Valvoline MTF synhromesh #811095. A quick search on google pulls up a GM synchromesh #88900333.
I have had no issues with mine in almost 39,000 miles of driving. I would think the GM synchromesh fluid would be an upgrade over the supposed OEM 88861800 fluid. I've tracked mine twice and never had an issue either. I figured it's about time to change it out since the manual says 45,000. Thanks for any input.

At 20 K miles I swapped mine out with Royal Purple Synchromax. Mine has shifted trouble free since then. I think the Valvoline would be fine.

MT change interval is 45K street driving, but 15 hrs of track time. So I suppose 1hr of track time = 3K miles of street driving. With 2 track weekends and 40K on the odo, I'd say it's definitely time to change the fluid.
The specs for the fluid are for a certain grade of Dexron ATF (I can't recall offhand), reason being that it needs to be compatible with the metals and other materials in the TR6060. Even if you don't use GM/AC Delco fluid, be sure to stick with a fluid that meets the Dexron rating. |

TR-6060 takes Dexron III. The spec is actually been removed since GM no longer "certifies" this fluid, but GM does sell a "manual transmission fluid." There are many Dex synthetic III equivalents from other oil manufacturers; Redline, Amsoil, Valvoline, etc. Originally Dexron III wasnt fully synthetic.

I've been doing OEM fluid and my car is 90% track. I followed their guideline and changed the trans fluid after 15 track hours and it literally came out just as new as I put it in.

Manual Transmission fluid and Rear Differential fluid are 2 things I can think. Because its a front engine rear wheel drive, I cannot think of a transfer case with Manual Transmission. I think transfer cases are supposed to be in 4WD/AWD only , or maybe automatics too. |

I ask because Tremec's fluid is considerably higher viscosity than the OEM, isn't it? Which would potentially provide higher protection on the track, but also more clunkiness on daily drives upon start up and 1st mile or so of driving (especially in cold weather)? Please forgive me if you've shared this previously. |

I have a C6 Grand Sport with the TR6060. I have tried the GM fluid, Redline, Royal Purple, and AmsOil.
The AmsOil Torque Drive fluid was the best overall. Has especially good low temp properties and increased the smoothness of shifts. |
