I had a great time at Austin Schnell Fest on Friday 9/20! Still waiting on the pro photos to ship but here is a still shot from the track walk on Saturday.
Definitely check it out in the future if you want the cheapest way to get a good amount of track time at COTA in a single day, or you can register for Saturday/Sunday or even all 3 days for a higher cost. The event usually happens twice per year hosted by the PCA and BMW CCA but open to all makes/models. It was a very well organized event! |

My best lap so far clockwise is 1:50.74 in blue run group and there was another SS 1LE in my group that also got a 1:50.x that weekend. I had issues getting clean laps too due to a lot of traffic to pass. They allow a lot of cars per group but it is worth it while you are still learning from the instructor. You should definitely post your lap time here with Harry's screenshot and/or video...no one has submitted a CCW lap yet: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512725 |

GT350R chase...
The attached video is from this past Friday at Summit Point Main. GT350R driver gets in over his head and almost loses it in turn 3. My best time for the day was 1:22.25. Car is stock except for Motul RBF and Chevy Track Alignment.

Great time at Thunderhill and Sonoma over the past week. First events in this car (have done the tracks in SS +/- 1LE pkg and other cars). Track day pads and Motul Dot 4 fluid only adjustments to the car. Of course had fresh oil and rear diff fluid. Car ran well at Sonoma but brakes seemed a little spongy... did a quick bleed before Thunderhill and it was the most confidence I’ve ever had in brakes. Got something smoking after one of the sessions, didn’t have a lot of cool down so maybe it was the pads (a little white ashy appearance to the side of the pad, no loss of performance later) or maybe it was just some chunks of rubber I had picked up. Car kept performing great though.

Sonoma and Thunderhill looks like a blast. Just a bit too far me to drive.
Looking at your smoke from your brake and tire. You might be trail braking too much. Try next time to brake bit later on entry but harder on the quick turns. I know sometimes on the wide sweepers you need to trail brake. Sometimes run 100% on (2) laps and do a 80% cool down on the next. |
